I just discovered one of my babies is getting his first tooth. Lucas had gotten up at 3 am bawling the past two nights, and I thought it was just because he was hungry. I was doing laundry up at the laundry room and he was being really fussy, so I reached into his mouth to feel his bottom gums, and there it was!! The bottom right middle tooth is poking its way through. So far I have given him a dose of Tylenol and some oral gel, but I don't know what else I can do. He is sleeping sound right now, but I heard that teething babies are not reliable sleepers. I did notice he has had a little diarrhea and a slight fever, but I am told that is normal for teething.

I am excited and a bit upset at the same time. This really drove home my babies are growing up and growing up fast, and I don't want them too!! :(

[SIZE=10pt]Yay Lucas  Sorry momma ;)

Have you tried the Hyland teething tablets? They seem to help my two when they're teething.

    Big boy!
Well, I guess the good news is that it is pretty much downhill from the first tooth! (or so I hear!) DS has been waking up the past 4 nights crying his little heart out (3am, also!) and I can't even imagine the pain he feels!

I hope your little one gets through it quick!

Teething is no fun. :( I just give the babies ibuprofen and oral gel. And lots of cuddle time. It does get better. My poor ds has 3 on top now and slowly getting number 4.Plus already has 2 on bottom. Top ones for us have been the worst. I've heard Hylands works well, i haven't tried it though.

Sometimes, mine liked to chew on those water filled rings that I kept in the refrigerator. Teething can be no fun for everyone involved, but it is fun to see those new pearly whiltes! I hope he does well with his first (and all those that follow) tooth!

Ok- not to steal this thread- but my doctor wouldn't give me the ok for the hylands teething tablets because they are herbal and not regulated by the FDA or tested for "safety" for babies. Should I let that stop me or worry me? I've read tons of posts on here of people saying they are a life saver during teething. My DD is going through this now. The pedi also said tylenol only once a day for teething. Uhm- it wears off in four hours??? What do I do to get her more comfortable the other 20 hours of the day????

After 6 months of age, you can give Motrin, which I think works better on teething pain than Tylenol, and also lasts longer. I never had any luck with the teething tabs, although some people swear by them! Congrats on the first tooth!

Yeah for a tooth! If my girls are really uncomfortable I've given tylenol for teething and lots of things for them to chew on.

Congrats on the first tooth. I did not get the okay from the Ped either for the teething tablets. But I did find that Tylenol and Motrin (afer 6 months) works very well.

Hey Little Sis! Congrats on the first tooth. Hyland teething tablets worked great for us. Also, my ped said you can give tylenol every four hours and alternate motrin, ie. give tylenol at 1 pm and motrin at 3 pm then tylenol at 5 pm. PM me to give me more updates please!
