We have been having some great weather so I decided to take the boys to the park to enjoy it while it lasts! It was getting really close to lunch time, so I decided we had better go before there was a meltdown.
Well Logan started kicking and screaming as I carried him to the van. Then would NOT get in his car seat! Thankfully my friend was there to watch Lucas run around b/c I was struggling with Logan for about 5 minutes trying to get him in. He straightened himself out and and I couldn't even make him sit. Finally I think he got tired out and and I got him in enough to hook one of the buckles.
It was so stressful! I can't imagine if they were both doing it or if my friend hadn't been there!
He has also been doing this for diaper changes this past week.
Is this just a phase that will go away? What would you do? Punishment? Should I force him in when he's fighting me?

    TIA

    Jen

Oooohhh, how I hated that phase.    When my dd would do stuff like this to me, I would put her in a safe environment (the grass, the stroller, etc.) and let her go until she started to calm. It is SO embarassing, but if I lived to talk about it, you will too. I had to ignore her, it was the only way to get her stop.

One of my girls is the queen of tantrums. I did exactly what Michelle said, put her in the stroller and let her have at it. It was more embarrassing than anything else.

 We have not had the experience of public tantrums yet but I'm sure it's coming. Hang in there!!!

    That is great your friend was there to help out with Lucas. We haven't dealt with this yet, but I know it won't be long. Not sure how I will deal with it. Neither of my girls ever had temper tantrums, Dillon has them now, but so far at home. I dread when it happens in public.

 BTDT! I've been the mom carrying two screaming toddlers across the park to the stroller, and then rolling the stroller with two screaming toddlers to the car, and then buckling in two screaming toddlers into car seats.... all the while alternating ignoring and bribing with the promise of yummy snacks. One time we were at BJs and the girls didn't want to get out of the stupid car cart. Meara was arching her back so I couldn't buckle her while screaming. I had to get into the car to get some leverage to get her into the seat to buckle her in. I felt like the worst mom ever, but I figured if anyone wants to judge me what do I care? I know she was upset because she needed a snack and a nap.

Thankfully my girls understand a little better now and I can prepare them "Sweet girls, mommy is putting the groceries in the back of the car and then you have to get out of the cart and get in your seats. Then we'll go home and have a snack!" This sometimes minimizes the fussy and screaming.
