We bathe our kids every other night uless we have gone somewhere where the kids could get really dirty. Well, we have finally started eating dinner together and the other night, it was not a bath night. Lorien has this aweful habit of touching her hair while she is eating so whenever ketchup or syrup or butter is involved you can imagine her hair is left a sticky, greasy mess. It was veggie burgers for the girls with ketchup and we didn't want the ketchup to end up in her hair. So, we had dinner hat night. We all put on hats while we ate out dinner. I have some old hats of mine that I gave them for dress up clothes and dh and I wore baseball caps. It worked like a charm! Lorien's hat was covered in ketchup and I was able to throw it right into the washing machine when we were done. It was so silly and fun and most importantly it was effective. Just wanted to share my quirky dinner time story.

What a fabulous idea! You will have to take pics of that next time! Dinning with hats! Do you all wear hats or just the babes?

    LOL...very creative!

We have the same problem too. I usually just turn on the faucet and lean them back over the sink (still dressed) and run the faucet (pulls out) over their hair. They think it's funny and it takes me all of 30-seconds to do it instead of a full-scale bath. :)

That's a good idea! Sarah has a tendency to do that too. I haven't figured out how to discourage it, because the more you mention it, the more she does it.

I have started putting their hair in ponytails when they are eating something messy like soup or oatmeal, because otherwise it hangs in their faces and gets messy, but that doesn't solve the intentional-touching problem.
