Our Boys are Here

    Owen Wayne and Brooks William arrived on Wednesday at 1:56 and 1:57 PM. Owen was our little guy that bumped up delivery date and came out at 4 lb. 14 oz. 17.5 inches. Brooks was 6 lb. 9 oz. and 19 inches. Both came out absolutely perfect and gave us good cries right away. But Brooks' blood sugar was low so they put a little formula in him. Owen got to nurse once I was in recovery, but he's so small it was hard for him to latch. Then his blood sugar dropped and his temp was low. So they put him under the warming lights. They both eventually ended up in the progressive nursery - so we've avoided NICU at this point. Brooks was able to spend several hours with us yesterday in-room. But Owen's still having trouble with his temp, so he's in the isolette. I got to hold him last night though and he's sooo tiny (our older son was 8.9 so this is a whole new world for us). Neither one are taking their entire feeding by bottle, so they both have tubes at this point.
    I'm pumping at this point just waiting for my milk to come in, and the nurses are good about letting Brooks try to nurse every other feed to help him not wear out. Now, we're just in the waiting game for them to get stronger and learn how to eat.

    They are adorable!! :welcome: to the First Year! Feel free to visit the NICU forum too (even though they aren't technically in there) as we're all dealt with the waiting for them grow and feeding tubes!
