Our big boy bed experience

I just typed this long message about the boys' first experience in toddler beds, then pressed tab instead of caps lock(that's what I get for trying to add drama to a forum post ) and lost it all! So basically, my in-laws got them these really cute train-shaped toddler beds for their room in San Antonio and we put them in separate one baby in each bed. We went in around 10 that night with our cell phones for flashlights and found them face to face in the same bed. It was really cute. They put them together the next night and they did fine. The third night, Braxton discovered that he could see a little and walked to the door and opened it.You can imagine our surprise when we saw his little head peeking out of the bedroom door at 8:30. Too funny! So we rocked him to sleep and put him in a pack-n-play in another room. Around 11 that night I moved him into the bed that Caleb was not in so I wouldn't wake him either of them up. When we woke up the next morning, Braxton was BACK in the bed with Caleb! They're inseperable! Anyway, just thought I would share our unexpected (and temporary) switch to toddler beds. Oh yeah, Rara is my husband's mother (the one who did the room) and she's awesome. For the longest she tried to get the boys to say her name and it was the saddest thing in the world to see them refuse to say it (and to rub salt into those wounds...say EVERYONE else's names!). The closest they came to saying Grandma was Rara so she said, I'll take it...and that's her name now.

 

The rooms are fabulous - can she come and do ours???!!!!
I am so glad the trip went well! How was the drive?

On the way there was without a hitch, though they did NOT nap as we had intended (we left right at naptime). The ride back was MISERABLE! There were several traffic jams resulting in a 5 hour trip as opposed to a 3-hour one. Ugh! Not to mention, we ended up sleeping in so we didn't leave until the boys woke up from their nap. The trip was just destined to suck.

 

That room is just awesome, and what a cute story! Rara doesn't dote on them at all, does she?

I hear you on the drive -- we had bad traffic on our way out of town, and what should have been a 5.5-hour drive turned into 8 hours. Everyone was melting down at the end. Bleagh. The way back was fine most of the way, and then we ran into football game traffic...I'm glad we're not driving anywhere for Christmas!

 

What a sweet story. :wub: Their room is awesome, and totally OT but that picture of the little bare booty with polo shirt, socks, and shoes is so cute too!

 

Wow, that room is so cute! How sweet that they crawl into bed with each other. :wub: I wish my girls were like that. <_<

Ok... That had to be the sweetest thing seeing him peek out the door at you. I am just picturing it in my head and that is precious. Another thing.. do you think she can come do my girls room for me? Their room is adorable. And them sleeping in each other bed is to precious. Your boys are getting so big and cute.
