Our babysitter experience last night

Last night DH and I went out and had our first "real" babysitter come over. For the past 2 years it has only been family that has really watched them. My BIL's girlfriend, Janelle lives near us and is a senior in H.S. and babysits often for other families so I thought I would ask her (no family was available). The kids have been around her a little bit and always seemed to gravitate towards her. So they were very excited when I said Janelle is going to come and play with you tonight. Once she got there DH and I were literally chop liver and neither showed resistance to us leaving.

Fast forward to this morning and both wake up and go walking out of their rooms calling for Janelle! "J'nelle where are you?" I said she went home last night when mommy and daddy came home. Then Katelyn says, "Mama GO get her..." with a very stern look on her face!!

I about fell over cracking up. Apparently they had a good time with Janelle last night and we may have found ourselves a new babysitter! ;)

YAY for finding a new babysitter!!!! Glad to hear everything went well.

This happens to DH & I all the time. Mimi (Megan) is our babysitter.

A few times, I've gone into their room to get them up after nap time and the room was dark. Well, they called me Mimi for about 5 minutes.

And as soon as Megan shows up to babysit, K&M yell: Go Mama Go! Go Dada Go!

That is great! It is always nice to know your kids are fine when you go out and to have found a new babysitter that everyone likes!!

That's great that you found a babysitter that your kids like! Too funny that they thought she was there to stay!

We're in the same situation... it's only been family and my best friend (who might as well be family) that have watched our kids over the past two years. I keep saying I'm going to work on finding someone... but I just haven't yet. Your post has inspired me to get a move on finding someone!

That is too funny Nicole. It must be nice to know now that when you go out the kids will be happy. I wish we could find someone that we trust, we have only been out 3 times since my oldest was born last time was in December 2005 :icon_eek:

That is so cute! My kids are always looking for their babysitters the next day (my nieces). It looks like you may have found yourself a keeper!

Sounds great Nicole. We need to find someone too, but everything is so darn $$$ up here. We just have been unable to budget for it.

Okay SoCal girls... I would be willing to share her! :)

We will not be using her all the time since we DO have a lot of family in the area. But it is nice to know we have a back up the kids like in case we do need someone. :)

Trish- you are right, having a babysitter gets expensive. Once you pay them and then you add on your date night-of dinner and a movie, its almost a $100 night!! Babysitter's seem to be highly compensated where we live!

That's so great - I am think we're going to have to start looking sometime soon - I just get so worried about leaving them - they've only been watched by my mom or one of their old NICU nurses (4 times total since they were born)... how wonderful to find someone they knew too!
