I was getting out of the shower and my right leg slipped on the bathroom floor while my left leg was in the bathtub. I was holding on to the shower doors for support, which is what kept me from falling down, but my legs split a little wider than was comfortable and the jerking motion was a little jarring. I recovered and congratulated myself on not falling, hitting my belly, or hurting myself... until I walked out of the bathroom after drying. Every step is difficult. I pulled some muscle in my left leg/groin area and it hurts in the top of my leg, the groin, left side of my abdomen, and lower back. Oh boy boy.

So I called the advice nurse at my HMO and she asked me all the important questions and agreed with me that the babies are probably fine and that I pulled a muscle or tore a ligament. She said I could make an appointment to see my OB today or leave my OB a message for her to get back to me. Knowing how my OB is, she'd get back to me and ask me to come in just to be on the safe side (I love her) so I made an appointment.

The babies have been very active since the accident where they were pretty sedate before.

Oh, I feel that pain! I did nearly an identical thing last week - stepping into the tub to shave my legs, the tub mat went out from under me and I did a terribly ungraceful split. I was holding the wall and didn't fall, but boy did I pull something down there. It was really tender for a good 24hrs afterward and I walked very carefully for a day or 2 after that.

    Hope you feel better soon!

Sounds like you really understand how that feels! Ouch!

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

My doctor checked heartbeats and both are great. :)

It's a pulled groin muscle and may take a week or so to feel better. I'll cope.

Ow. Ow. Ow. Hope you feel better soon!

I don't dare get out of the shower by myself anymore--I always call for DH to come balance me. Stairs are kind of scary, too. It's weird being so off-balance.

What we really should do is install one of those grip bars.
