Okay, why do we need to do a cold rinse first? I forgot and did a hot wash first. Is it just to rinse the pee out? Help!! I hope I didn't wreck them, this is my first load of wash and they cost a fortune!

Basically the cold wash is just for making sure everything is rinsed out well... If you rinse your poopy diapers before putting them in the wash you probably don't need to even do this, although the cold wash will help remove stains... Also, if you line dry not only will your diapers last longer the stains will be naturally bleached in the sun!

Don't worry about missing a wash, there are many ideas about the best way to wash. I finds that I do like the way my diapers come out when thy are washed in cold first, but you will see what works best for you... Just make sure that you don't yse fabric softener or dryewr sheets... They will make your diapers water repellant, but even then you can fix them so don't worry!

Cloth Diapering is the BEST!!! You will love it, and so will your babies!

The cold rinse is really for just preventing stains or getting out any extra poop. You're fine if you skipped it. There are many people that don't do it.

I think the cold rinse helps prevent stains because hot water tends to "set" organic stains. I wouldn't worry about it for this load.. and hanging them in the sun helps HUGELY with any stains!

I didn't use a cold rinse first. It seemed like a waste of water after seeing how clean the machine got them without it. Of course, I rinsed out the sticky poop and dumped the not-sticky poop so perhaps that was my pre-rinse.

don't worry :) as other PP said cold rinse is to take out all the poopies and keep stains from setting. There have been times I was in a hurry that I skipped the cold rinse. You will not ruin your diapers :) Keep asking questions, and way to go mama for CD'ing

I never cold rinse first. I wash hot and rinse cold.

I do a cold rinse first just to get the poop out. If my boys didn't poop in the last couple of days I skip it. No biggie. :)
