Only milk after 12 months or formula too?

We have several good formula coupons and I was going to stock up but DH asked a good question. We have no reason to believe that we won't be giving them milk at 12 months. Do you give them only milk then or do you still give formula in the night bottles?

If they are underweight some Peds recommend staying on formula for a few more months because it has more calories than whole milk. As long as there are no allergies than I think you will get the okay to start the transition at one year if you havent already. Maybe people including myself do a slow transition weaning off formula and many go cold turkey without issue.

It took us awhile to make the full switch to milk. Our pedi didn't even have us start to switch until after their 12 month wbv. Then we tried to go cold turkey, but the girls start puking, so we had to gradually introduce it. By the time they were 14 months they were finally on all milk.

If babies are fit and well nothing wrong with just milk after 12 months. I plan to gradually wean the boys onto to it in their formula - milk intake only needs to be around 12 fl oz at this age.

I am still mixing formula with milk b/c my girls are spitting up the milk, I have no idea why.

We were able to transition to whole milk in the last week. It might just depend on what your pedi says and how your babies react to the transition.

I think it depends a lot on what they are at food-wise too. If the babies still don't reliably eat a bit of everything, or don't eat much, you probably want to stay on formula longer so they get more calories.

If their weight is good, growth is good, and table foods/eating is good, you should get the okay to move to milk. That said, you can still do formula or mix formula and milk.

We replaced one bottle at a time with a sippy of milk offered at meal time. Took us about 2 weeks to transition from 3 formula bottles to 3 sippies of milk (we were told to wait until after their 12 month wbv...so they were almost 13 months old when we were off the bottle). Everyone does it their own way.
