Only 1 of them is ready for just 1 nap

DD is getting ready to move to one nap a day--the morning nap is getting harder with her every day--she plays more than sleep and it has turned into only about an hour of sleep I can get out of her. DS on the other hand, is still doing a good 2 hour nap. There afternoon nap is still good--she slept 2 hours and DS slept 3. It seems like she is ready to move to just one nap...but he seems to love his sleep. What do I do, just hold off on switching to just 1 nap or should I make him transition as well? Any advice?

No advice... just commiserating. We're in exactly the same boat. Eleanor is ready for one nap but Vivian still needs two naps. I tried today to move them both to one nap and we failed miserably. Viv was a puddle of baby goo by 10am and Ella talked through the morning nap I finally ended up putting them both down for. Sigh.

I hope someone has advice for us!

One of my girls was clearly ready, the other one not so much, but I transitioned them together for my own sanity. I couldn't imagine having one baby up all day and never getting a break.

It took a while for one of them to get used to sleeping longer, so when she woke I would quietly go in and get her and let the other one sleep for as long as she needed to.

Jake has been on one nap for like 3 months, we just transitioned Becca. Their bedroom is a playroom of sorts, so if Jake wouldn't go down he could play in there, while Becca slept in our room. I think the nanny would wake Becca up if it was time to go the park and so she wouldn't sleep so late that she would mess up their afternoon nap.

For me, I really wanted to try and keep both naps, plus Jake occasionally took 2 naps.

But as with everything else, do what works best for you.

Ditto! We recently just went to one nap because my DD wasn't napping in the afternoon OR if she did she was falling asleep really late and it was interfering with bedtime.

We pushed the nap to 12pm and now both of them nap about 2 to 3 hours a day.

When I mentioned it to the ped she said to do them together...she's a mom of twins as well :)

Sydney needed 1 nap long before Sam. I put them both on 1 nap. One of the best parenting decisions EVER. they napped from 12-3 and it was bliss for months.

Same boat over here. Lily is definitly ready for one nap. Each day she pretty much plays or fusses through either her morning or pm nap (although more often than not the morning one). On the rare days that she does take both naps, she will play in her crib at bedtime for over an hour before finally falling to sleep for the night. We put them both down at 7:30pm for the night and she has played as long as 9pm. Luckily, they are in separate rooms.

Jack, on the other hand is a SSLLEEEEPPEERR - he loves to sleep. He will do two - 1.5 or 2 hour naps AND falls asleep right away at night when we put him down and stays asleep about 15 min. longer in the am.

My day to day plan right now is to basically just pretend this is not happening :)! I put Lily up in that crib and let her play/fuss for up to an hour and then bring her down if she is not asleep. I am not sure how long I can do this with a clear conscience but I work from home and need the time that both naps provide. Jack is definitly not ready to go to one nap AND we have swim lessons at noon for the next couple of weeks so we need to stay on our current schedule.

I think this is just one of those icky transition times and whether you decide to push them both to one or make one at least lay in the crib for two naps then either is better on mommy than having separate nap schedules!
