Hello all! I thought I'd post on this section since you all have had your babies. I was just wondering how many (approx) oneies, etc that you had in newborn size? I don't want to over buy in newborn size, but I also don't want to be doing laundry every time I turn around!

When are your babies due?? If it's going to be very hot (like due soon or this summer), I would say figure 2 onesies per kid/per day. So how often do you feel like doing laundry?! :D I personally hate laundry, especially since I already have 2 kids, so I made sure to have enough sleepers/onesies to only have to do laundry every 5 days or so. Made life much easier in those insanely hectic/exhausting first weeks.

Now I think ds has about 12 onesies (hand me downs and a few new ones), and dd has about 10 if that. Sometimes they only wear one a day, but sometimes it's 2-3 a day! I do laundry every 3-4 days for them now!

I LOVE onesies! I didn't realize it until they were home for a few days, and I grew out of the "try every cute outfit on" stage. Especially with two, you start to appreciate convenience, and onesies are VERY easy. If your babies are going to be sleeping with swaddlers or sleep sacks, you definitely want enough for the night too. I never use the footsie pajamas... I put them in a onesie and a swaddleme for bed. Also, depending on how early they are born may depend on how long they are in newborn size. Mine were born at 31 weeks, came home at 38, and were out of newborn size, and in to 0-3 months within 2 weeks. My advice would be to buy some extra if you want to be prepared at a store that has a good return policy and return them if you don't need them. I would def. stock up on 0-3 or 3 month size though. GOOD LUCK!

I agree, if they are due soon and it is warm where you live, I'd invest in plenty of onesies. My babies were born in the spring and since I live in WA state, it was still pretty cool so I used a lot of sleep n' plays. Now that it is getting hot (some days), onesies are my favorite thing to put them in. As for size newborn....every baby is different, but mine were born 38wks, 3 days and came home with me right away. Both weighed right around 6 lbs and ds wore newborn for about a month and dd wore newborn for 2 months (she just recently started wearing some of her 0-3 clothes!). Good luck! :D

Thanks! We live in Hawaii so the weather doesn't really change much. I don't want to do laundry that often haha. Hoping to only do it twice a week on top of how often I do mine and my husband's (he's military so there seems to be more to do, not to mention we are both bad about wearing two outfits a day ourselves lol). I counted tonight and oh my goodness, we have like 50 onesies (give or take a few other tops) for newborn and then we have like 40 onesies for 0-3 months. I have bought some of them(all from Carters) so I will look into what the return policy is because I think that's a bit much. We have about half of that for 3-6 months, but then almost nothing after that. So maybe I should take back the ones I've gotten in newborn and 0-3 and trade them for 6-9 and later.

Our girls seem to live in onsies unless we are going somewhere. I say you can never have enough but yeah you could swap them for a bigger size.

I know I had way too many! I remember the best outfits we had when the girls were newborns were the pajamas with the feet, that zipped up. The zipper was great b/c it was quick and easy.

The best onesies were just the pack of cheap cotton gerber onesies you get in a pack of 3 or 6. I'd think 6 for each baby is plenty but it really depends on how often you want to have to wash clothes. What happened with us is we found a few that we really liked and we tended to keep washing and using those.

We also have way too many LOL and we always put our girls in footed pajamas with the zipper. They are great! We actually don't really use onesies except for when they were first born since it was still cold here in MN and we put them on under their jammies. We use a lot of rompers (one piece short sleeved and shorts type of outfits with bottom snaps) for summer so far. I love the kimono style of short sleeved onesie shirts and put them on the girls when dressing them in summer outfits that have straps instead of sleeves. Also, to be quite honest, I really only like the button bottom onesites for my toddler because it isn't like a t-shirt that always comes untucked.

I didn't realize this at first, but Carter's runs small on their sizes. Check the weight on the tag. By boys started wearing Carters 6 month size at 12 pounds, a few weeks ago, so keep that in mind. When they were in the hospital, they were 5-6 pounds and grew out of preemie size!

I never seemed to have enough, but I had spitters. I would think you would want to have at least 6 per baby if it were me.
