I'm at my wits end with one of my DD's. She's almost 10 months. Growing well, eating, napping etc. Still waking once at night. Sigh..... But otherwise seems just fine. About a month ago she started this grating scream/grunt noise whenever she was unhappy. Obnoxious but tolerable. Now she does it all the time. Every time she's bored, wants to be put down, picked up, whatever. If you don't respond it will turn into a hard cry, tears and all. It seems like nothing makes her happy. I pick her up and she's twisting to go down. Then on the floor she's crying again the minute I take a step away. Her sister is perfectly happy and just stares at her wondering what her problem is? Neither is crawling yet. They roll and scoot a little. She has her 2 bottom teeth.

I just assumed it's a behavioral thing. My older DS was a lot like this. But then in hindsight he ended up needing surgery for a hernia. We also learned later that he is very farsighted and has worn glasses since he was 2.

I mentioned DD's behavior to the PA we saw at Urgent Care last week when she had an ear infection. The lady was really nice and thought that we should do some medical testing to see if something else is going on with her. She didn't think it sounded normal to be so unhappy all the time. I hate to subject her to bloodwork, xrays etc. like the PA was suggesting.

    What do you think?

I would think it's a behavioral thing, but since your older DS had similar problems and it turned out he had a hernia, I would see your pedi about it just to be on the safe side.

I too would see the Ped to have them rule out any illness or infection that is making her unhappy.

I think I would take her to the pedi to be checked out. I think I would go ahead and do the bloodwork, just in case.

I agree with everyone else. I'd call your pedi and have her evaluated.

Thanks for the votes! I think I am going to take her to our old pediatrician. We moved an hour away but I just can't get comfortable with our new guy. He seems way too laid back for my taste.
