One twin has stopped babbling

One of my twins was babbling like crazy starting around 5 months, all kinds of noises. We even joked about
how soon she would probably start talking. The other twin babbled a little, but not as much, and not as many noises
    and pitches.

Now they are 8 1/2 months old. The original babbler recently stopped babbling. I guess it has been over the last month. She is, however,
crawling and standing up on everything. My husband thinks it's just because she's found something new to do and she's into
exploring new places. The other twin is now babbling and saying momma, bob, and yells out, but is not crawling at all, just rolling around.

Should I be concerned about the babbling? She is making noises, like, mmmmm and some grunts, but that's about it.

I would appreciate any thoughts at all.

    Thanks!

I'd assume the same as your DH. But I'm not sure.. It doesn't sound like it's threatening to the baby's growth & development

Are you planning to visit the Pedi for their 9 month check up? If so, I'd bring the question up to the doc.

    GL!!

My DD did the same thing. Was quite the talker, then kind of slowed down once she learned to sit up and move around. Her OT says she's just too busy to talk anymore. She does still talk though if she's not playing, like when we're holding her, when she's laying in her crib, etc. Does yours still talk when she's not busy?

Not really. I'll hear her in the crib sometimes making noises, more mmmm's and ooooooohhhh's, or sometimes in the car we can
hear her making little sighs and little sounds, but not "babbling."

I think babies do growth spurts in stages. You'll have a big mental/verbal spurt, then a physical movement spurt. Things they were good at can even regress a little while when the new skills are coming out. I wouldn't worry unless she wasn't making eye contact, stuff like that.

I would talk to your Ped about it and I am sure that they can put your fears at ease. Mine did that all the time. They would babble alot, then they would focus more energy on trying to crawl or walk and put their communication on the back burner. They didnt really consistently babble all the time until around a year old.
