One Slightly More Advanced Than The Other

    Hey

We have twin girls coming up to 2 next month. Both girls have been advancing very well at the same pace. Over the last few weeks Amy seems to be talking a lot better and articulating what she wants. Although Lilly comprehends what you tell here she is much quieter and she doesn't get out her words as well. Thank god for the mum translation :).

Has anyone been in the same situation? Is it something to be concerned about or are they just finding their own levels of learning?

    Michael

You always need to remember that they are individuals and will not always be then same, not always easy to remember though!! I wouldn't worry a thing about it, if she regresses then worry but it all sounds perfectly normal. They may start to become more and more different as they get older and that is a goof thing so they know they are individuals!

Like the pp mentioned, unless she is regressing, there is no cause for alarm.

My kids are so far apart it isn't funny. Ben is slowly catching up (he is finally talking in sentences) but they are still no where near each other. They are two different individuals, and they will develop differently. But it is hard not to compare.

I struggle with that too. My twins are vastly different in their abilities. I need to remind myself all the time that they are individuals and shouldn't expect them to do the same all the time. Plus, my son who seems "behind" is actually on schedule but my daughter is advanced. It makes it even harder not to compare. I struggle with it all the time!

I agree with pp, we have to remember they are individuals and will do things at their own time. It is hard though when they are twins. I wouldn't worry about it. :hug99: My two advance in different areas, and I always have to remind myself of this.

Same here. my daughter is ahead with speech and my son with the physical and fine motor skills part. They are individuals and develop at their own pace. However, it is hard not to compare. I have to remind myself (and others) all the time.

I cannot agree with this enough! Everyone develops differently, so give them a little leg room to grow and change. :) I know it is hard not to compare them, its like having your own little development experiment in your face 24/7! :hug99:

sounds like just two different kids to me!

They advance at different rates. My Jazzy can jump and is pysically ahead of Jessy but Jessy is much better at pronucing her words and has a bigger vocab
