ivana CAN self-feed, she's done it before (and also picks up tiny lint she sees on the floor and tries to put it in her mouth until i have to run adn stop her yuck), but she won't because she doesn't want to get her hands dirty  i know this, because i was teh same way as a baby. my mom said i refused to touch my smash cake on my first birthday. if i give her something, she'll pick it up, drop it, and look at her hand like, "ew, now it's dirty!" i dont' know what my question is, i guess i'm just wondering if anyone else has a baby/babies like this....

Too funny! Try giving her a baby fork or spoon. We use the plastic take and toss ones.

I would try and find more clean foods to give her. Will she eat cheerios or puffs? My babies aren't that fond of mushy foods yet. I tried to give them peaches, but they didn't like touching them. I did give them those Gerber teething biscuits, and they have no problem getting messy and dirty with those. I like the spoon idea too though, she'll get the hang of it eventually.

Ditto this...mine are just now getting to where they will eat "wet/damp" foods.

That is so funny! My girls don't mind, they are going through something where they ONLY want to self feed. If I put something in their mouths they will then put their hand in their mouth to make sure nothing is coming out I guess....
