For those of you have have your little one's on one nap, I have a couple of questions. What age did you start? What time is that nap? How long do they typically nap for?

    Thanks!

We started around 13/14 months. At the beginning, they'd eat lunch right around 11:00 or even a little before and then go down for a nap immediately. After a short transition period, they generally took a 3-4 hour nap. As they've gotten older, the time has gotten later and the nap has gotten shorter gradually. Now, they go down around 1:00 or 1:30 and nap for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.

Here are some more one nap stories link

I was in total denial that my two were ready for one nap. They had been boycotting their AM nap for a while before I made the transition at 15-16 months. I dropped the morning nap and moved the afternoon nap up an hour. Most days they will nap close to three hours (they had to get to that point) but we do have days here and there where they nap 2- 2 1/2 hours. And there are some days where they boycott the nap completely.

We went to one nap right after their 1st birthday. It took about 2 months to get where we are at now. At first I moved their morning nap by 1/2 hour and kept doing that until we got to 11:00. At that time they would sleep about 2 hours and at the time it made for a very long afternoon since they did not go to bed until 6:30.

They now go down at 1:00 and sleep for a good 3 hours.

I love them being on one nap. It frees up our mornings for playgroups and other outings. I always say that if I can just make it to their nap I know I'm on the home stretch for the day.

I still have nap envy reading your posts...but we switched around 16 months to one nap and gradually pushed it back also. Mine wake up at 6:30, nap at 12, and go bed sleep at 6:30 or 7. They are napping better than ever lately for 90 minutes... it started out more like one hour and we had very cranky babies late afternoon. Maybe I should try moving it later?

we made the switch around 16 months. we started with a 12:00pm nap time (we've gradually pushed it back to 12:30pm with an eventual goal of a 1:00pm nap) & they usually sleep 2 - 2.5 hours. i have my fingers crossed that i'll also be blessed with 3 hour nappers! ;)

I recently made the switch to one nap with my daughter at thirteen months but my son wasn't ready. However, after a few weeks of complete craziness, I went ahead and made the switch with him too. I started to switch him to one nap as of Thursday and he is now napping once a day for about 2 hours. I love having them on this new schedule. They wake at around 7:00, nap at around 12:00, and go to bed at 8:00. I will be moving back nap time to 1:00 but I started the switch with a nap at 11:00 and am slowing trying to adjust it back to 1:00. I enjoy this new schedule since I feel free to do much more in the morning but I found making the switch was difficult. When I posted a question about naps, one suggestion that I appreciated was to keep the babies very busy in the morning before they went down for their nap and that is what made all the difference in switching my son over. We went out to the mall, playland, the grocery store or did a lot of activities in the morning so he wouldn't fall asleep until after lunch and it was what made the transition much easier.

14 months here, nap was at 12.30pm-1pm (they had a cat nap in the car around 11am to keep them up though). It gradually shifted though and now they can go nap as early at 10am on very crabby days, but even if they wake up at 12pm they are fine for the afternoon.

We went down to one nap at around 11 months when my girls refused for several, several weeks to take two naps. We gradually kept pushing their nap back until it ended up between 1:00 and 1:30, but that took probably a whole summer to accomplish. Their naps were consistently 2 to 3 hour naps by that time.

We started at 15 months because they were starting nursery. They go to bed at approx 12pm and will sleep for about 2 hours, sometimes more sometimes less.
