My DD still sleeps in the swing.. DS took to the crib right away..!! He loves it.. Well DD not so much... I rocked her to bed last nite and put her in the crib swaddled. and she woke up 10 mins later. Then i put her in the swing and let it swing for 5 mins.. back asleep o i moved her to the crib.. (I was thinking this is it!!) Well she woke up like 5 mins later.. she just was not having the crib.. So i let her sleep in the swing...
Did you have issues moving to the crib? how did you resolve them? she cant sleep in the swing forever.. i even tried a little CIO to have her fall asleep in the bed... but after 10 mins of crying i went and got her.. i felt sooooooo bad.

maybe try to prop her at an angle? just like the swing?

    TIA

I think it's a habit that we just must break. I have a DD who sleeps better in the swing (they both do actually) and I had to take it away because she is getting a flat spot because of it. I finally just acted as if it didn't exist for night time. She sleeps with me some but I know eventually I'm going to just have to be strict and keep putting her down in the crib, when she wakes, putting her back down, again and again. Easier said than done. I'll look back to this post for suggestions from others too.

My boys didn't sleep in swings, but slept swaddled in their papasans until they were 4 mo old. They refused to sleep on flat surfaces and I doubted they would ever sleep anywhere but the papasans. After 4 mo, we gradually started to transition them to the crib and they did fine, much to my surprise. Up until 4 mo, it's all about survival!

We went cold turkey into the cribs. But they also had sleep positioners and one of my boys slept on an incline for reflux. Maybe try some white noise too. Good luck.

Cold turkey here! I just decided one day that enough was enough! They were 12 weeks or a bit older when I did it. It worked out fine and they both sleep now in their cribs without any problems! I did not rock them to sleep, though. Instead, I tried to get them to go down awake but drowsy. We used pacifiers at the time so I would just spend my time reinserting!! It eventually worked. My thinking was that I needed to move them from the swing to the bed and that they needed to get to sleep on their own. THis was just my opinion....

At 4 1/2 months, we had to go cold turkey into the crib due to Seamus having torticollis and misshapend head. At that point, we had to really work on sleep training. We did the shush/pat (we actually did a humming sound though) thing (The Baby Whisper book). When you move her from swing to crib and she wakes after minutes being in there, intead of picking her up, can you try patting her butt and make a constant hmmmm sound. If it seems to be working, after a few minutes, stop making the sound and continue with the patting. I think you continue patting until she is asleep.

we transitioned right at 4 months and fortunately did not have an issue - they both took to the crib on the first try (not without a significant amount of snuffling during the night) but something to try - put her in the swing until she falls asleep and then turn it off - if she stays asleep then move her gradually - like the first night or 2 leave her in the stationary swing, then once she's asleep move her say the 3rd night...also if she can roll or turn her head you might try letting her on her belly if she flips herself over...once DS was out of the swing it was the ONLY way he slept!

I was just about to ask a smiliar question-my DD's are 10 1/2 weeks old-born 4 weeks early and they hate to nap in their crib. My 1 daughter will sleep in her crib at night and has made it through the night once-the smaller twin is back in our room and winds up sleeping with me a lot b/c she is up constantly-I am just trying to survive!
They love to nap in their bouncy seats and swings, but I have not given in to sleeping there at night. It is so nice to see that I am not alone in this...I feel so overwhlemed and like I don't have a clue as to what I am doing! It will get better right?
