I watched Jackson strike out 16 of 19 batters last night. He pitched the full 6-inning game except for the very last batter, as he had reached the maximum per-game pitch count for the league and they had to pull him. He allowed only 2 hits, and the other team never scored.

At the team meeting right after the game, Coach gave Jackson the game ball and said that in 31 years of coaching in that league, he'd never seen a pitching performance like that at any age level. Jackson, who always fights back smiles when he's receiving recognition, was grinning from ear to ear and positively glowing. I, of course, had tears!

  2. Sounds like you've got a little league champion there.

Wooohooo!!! That is fantastic!!! Great job!

One of my children got the game ball last week, it was soo cool! It was the only game ball given out all year in fact I had been on the sidelines after the game talking to my friend about how if they gave game balls it could definitely have been my child that day. Not a moment later, my child came running over saying look look I got the game ball. I guess the performance warranted a one time issue of the game ball!!!! The ball has been written on with the date etc and now sits proudly on the shelf in their room.

Amy that is awesome!!! My older son was a little league picture and I know it is no easy task, especially like Jackson's coach said at that level. All Star team here he comes

Cory had one coach at AAA level who picked a different child each week to receive the game ball and he also gave that child a bat bag with their name and # embroidered on the bag.
