So...Trent in the last week is finally pulling up, cruising, waving and clapping. He literally did not do these two weeks ago. Colten is still not doing any of these. Should I be concerned??? Is it normal to see jumps of growth like this and can I hope that Colten may do the same??

I think it is completely normal for there to be differences in development. Try not to compare them ( I know, easier said than done! :)). My boys have been pretty similar in the timing of meeting their milestones but one of them walked 3 weeks before the other one - and I spent way too much time worried about why F was walking and S wasn't. Sure enough, in his own time, he started walking too.

    Try not to worry!

very normal, Charlotte was doing all that 6 months ahead of her sister the whole time in all her milestones-my one twin just started to walk at 18 mos.

I'm not sure what's normal with ID twins but I would guess that they would be close with a lot of there milestones. My ID boys have have met all there milestone so far within a month of each other. I think TTTS could possibly have effect on him being behind but I think more likely he'll be doing the same things as his brother very soon. Have they been pretty similar up to now?

It's normal, I know it took me two months more than my sister to walk.

My good friend has ID boys, and one of those boys consistently weighed 3-4 lbs more than the other. You could just look at them and see the difference right away.

I think it's not uncommon at all for them to be different sizes and have different developmental growth.

:thanks: I think I just over worry about Colten because he was the "donor" baby and I always felt like he never had enough. Their milestones have varied. What's funny is Trent will show signs of reaching a milestone before he does, and Colten will just spontaneously do something, without any prep (ie crawling) I am just a worrier. Thanks for the reassurance.

pp asked about milestones. They do usually meet them fairly close. I will just have to wait and see if Colten hits them soon.

I also worry about things like this with our ID twins. The funny thing is... the one who is lagging more is the one who was doing things first before about 9 months old. He was making great eyecontact weeks after birth, smiling, the first to laugh and babble, etc...

Anyway, with our IDs our baby B has done several things usually 2 weeks-a month and a week before baby A. He has been waving occassionally for over a month, and baby A JUST started doing this, but only a few times. baby B crawled 3 weeks earlier. He is steadier on his feet and just took his first three steps yesterday. Neither are talking at all yet (really worrying me). There is only one thing baby A has done baby B has not, directly after playing a clapping game he's tried to clap his hands a couple of times.

It is normal for some lag, because they aren't the same person. and oh I know how hard it is to not try to compare!
I think it's normal for there to be a several week lag. However, if the lags are really, really long (like 2 months) or babies are not meeting milestones, I'd check in with their pediatrician.
