One gift, two gifts or it depends?

My twins are invited to a friend's birthday party (the son of my good friend who watches my older DS after school). Since the whole family is invited, do I get 1 gift or two (three?) gifts from each of the kids? If it were not a good friend of mine but a classmate, does that change the situation?

    What I do is...

When we go to their friends parties, I generally get a gift from each of them. But if the whole family is invited, then I just get a bigger gift from all of them. I think of them being invited as individuals and so they give an individual gift.

We were all invited to a friends party. She wanted scrapbooking stuff(4). So I got a ton of stickers and paper(that stuff adds up!) from the three kids vs. individually.

    We'd do one.

I should add, that when we do one, it generally equals the same amount as if we did two.

As a whole family, I would do one. In terms of school parties, I would do two.

I also do just one gift. But I also usually do a gift bag and besides the one big gift, toss in packages of stickers or little toys from the party aisle (slinkies, Kush balls).

We do one family gift. The kids aren't in school yet so we haven't had that situation yet. We would probably still do one larger gift.

We do 1 larger but mine aren't in school yet either. I'm guessing when they are we will do 2 smaller gifts since they will have more of an opinion as to what we buy:)

We also do one larger gift. Sometimes if I can separate the gift into two packages (even if they are of unequal size and value) I will do that to encourage the act of giving in both. They love handing over wrapped parcels even though it can be hard to stop them from immediately helping with the unwrapping.

One gift. When we invite both of my neighbors kids to a party, they give one gift from both her children to each of mine. I do the same, the only difference is that hers get their gifts on different days since her kids aren't twins.

We can't really afford a gift per boy so I usually give one gift from both boys. If possible I"ll get two less expensive gifts if the gifts go together or I know the child will like them and fit within the budget, but generally, I give one gift per birthday child from both my boys. If the party is for two kids, then each kid gets a gift from both my boys.
