    Hi!!
Can anyone weigh in on whether one crib or two is better? I've read different opinions - I don't know whether to get two right away so I'm ready or just wait...any opinions on what's worked for you?

I can certainly tell you what worked for us but as you know there will be a huge variance in strategies. Some TS member's children never shared a crib while others shared until they were two+.

We had two cribs set up from the beginning. When K&K came home from the hospital we used one of them immediately, they shared at night from the first night they came home. Naps I let them have anywhere anytime they wanted, not in the crib. My goal was to get them used to sleeping at night in the crib and have the naps fall in later. They shared for the first 4 months then Kyle had a medical condition which I thought made it best to separate them so I did. When they first came home I had both cribs set up and ready to go and a couple times it came in handy. I had the cribs layered with sheets and protector pads but if something happened in the spit up, diaper explosion department it was soo convenient to move them to the other crib so they could continue sleeping while I cleaned up the other crib. Some children will sleep better together and some children will sleep better apart, it really is specific to your family but my vote is if you think you are going to want two cribs and have room for two, purchase them together (sometimes you can get a multiple discount) and set them up from the start. I am really glad we had the backup in those early days!

Well...we all chose different setups. I think you need plan b. Doesn't mean you need a crib. You could have two PNPs with bassinets and they could care less.

My girls slept with me for 3 months, then moved to a crib where they slept together until almost 6 mos. Then I separated them to a crib and PNP. Then they were moved to their room and had their own cribs.

We are so cramped for room in our house that we have one crib in the babies room and a pack n play in our room. I hope they sleep well together because that is the plan.......at least for awhile anyway!!

We started with one crib in their bedroom, which they began sleeping in together at 3 mos (before that they shared a pack-n-play sided crib in our room from 1-3 mos.). After awhile, we noticed that Ben kept waking Hannah up, so we set up the second crib in their room. The only reason we set another one up so soon was because we wanted them to sleep better.

Ultimately, you will need two cribs. Since chances are, you won't need two right away, you can always 1) just buy and set up one right now and buy the other later, or 2) buy both and just set one up for now.

One side note, if you do plan on eventually having a second crib in the bedroom, be aware of WHERE you will put that second crib BEFORE you start hanging pictures and anchoring furniture. We basically had to rearrange everything on the walls when we added that second crib, which was a pain.

We used one crib for the first 4 months since they were in the room with me. We had the second crib setup in their room, but ended up not really using it until we moved. I think it also depends on how big your kids are. We would have separated at 3 months if we hadn't been in the middle of a cross-country move.

We bought two cribs, but we're starting out with them sharing one in our bedroom. I figure I can see how it goes, and separate them if it isn't working.

We have 2 cribs in their room - and one pack n play with a full sized bassinet to share at first!! right now in their room which is the smallest bedroom in our house - I have set up one crib as like a diaper station! because I didn't have room for a changing table!!
I know at some point we will need to separate them so that one doesn't wake the other!!

i am starting with the bedside co-sleeper, then will move them to one crib...and add crib #2 when it's needed. for now, trying to get buy with one of everything (except carseats!) for the first 6 months. we'll see how that goes!

We just bought two cribs. I figure that they will need to be separated at some point due to size and comfort in the crib but they will still be in the same room. We also bought a pack and play with a top bassinet to have the babies in our bedroom for the first few months.

We had 2 cribs, but only set up 1. We had very little space at the time. They slept together until they started scootching into one another on their own. Then we bit the bullet and squeezed in the 2nd one.

We had two set up for the beginning and they shared one for maybe 2 weeks. Chloe has always been a wild woman though and was kicking and moving a lot and would disrupt Addie's sleep, so we moved her.

We have two cribs. I don't know if they'll like sleeping together or not. But even if they do sleep together for a while, they'll eventually need to be seperated. So IMO you can either get two cribs now, or one now and one later. But either way you'll probably end up needed two.

We only have the one at this stage. The boys sleep up against each other in a snugglebed which is about bassinette size. It sits in the crib.
