I give my girls cereal from one bowl, with two other kids and a dh in the house i see no point in getting extra dirty dishes and trying to dash between cereal bowls. Except f the one is ill with a contgious something, which happened once but the seperate bowls did not help much, both got sick in the end anyway.

My SIL had such a tantrum telling me it is so wrong and not hygienic. I had such speech from her it left me so speechless, but I cant care i am going to keep on using just one bowl because it is easier for me.

What is the norm out there???

I used one bowl, one spoon for mine when they were little. They chew on the same toys anyways, don't they?? So why the hassle of having 2 bowls, 2 spoons, etc... I only gave them separate everythings when they were eating stuff with gluten (well one of them was, the other one has coeliac disease) like porridge, to avoid cross-contamination (because of the "coeliac twin"). I would even try to feed them that when there were 2 of us feeding, because I was very worried about cross contaminating and feeding him with the wrong spoon.

I think I used one spoon, two bowls, just to make sure they each got enough.

I used one bowl, one spoon, when they were just starting cereal. At some point, I went to two bowls so I would know how much each was getting.

They started at 14-1/2 months old: I use 2 bowls and spoon when they started using cereal and milk (a little bit at the bottom). They LOVE having their cereal with milk. We noticed that they were pouring milk onto the tray and then dump their cereal to swirl around before eating. That is when I knew they want milk with cereal. We gave it a try with a bowl. They do dump the bowl upside down after they finished so I usually take it away and/or keep an eye on them. It had work for us so far! They also have been using the suction bowls (3 individually to put food in) for lunch and dinner. I recently introduced them their first spoon (from Gerber) that is soft like rubbery. They are learning how to use that with their applesauce, pudding, yogurt, and etc.

In the beginning, I used two bowls, two spoons.....then I thought to myself.....why?

They put each other's pacifiers, bottles and toys in their mouths, so really what's the difference here. I think your SIL must not have twins?

You are fine feeding them from the same bowl, same spoon.

One of everything here. They such on each others pacifiers even if they are attached. It's hopeless. If Ella puts food in her mouth and doesn't like, she puts it back on the table and before I can get there, Kara has grabbed it and eaten it. I couldn't keep them apart if I tried, so I give up!

My ped tells me about how to wash my hands between touching the babies, etc. I listen and inside laugh- I love my ped but not only does he not have twins, he does not have kids. How can I blame him for having no clue?

Ummmmm....Did your SIL have twins? Next time she says something like that, you say, "Oh, is that how you did it with your twins?"

Gimme a break. Hygenic??? Whatever. These kids suck on the same toys. Should they always have different toys to play with? They take each others pacifiers. What are you suppose to do, let them suck pacis but only if they are in different rooms? Our kids sucked and shared the same amniotic fluid for goodness sake.

I've always done one bowl, one spoon, one plate, one fork and sometimes during mealtime they share one sippy cup. With 3 meals and 2 snacks, 2 sippies of milk a day that's a WHOLE LOT OF DISHES!! I agree, it's a waste. I think your SIL should mind her business. You are their mother not her. Let her do what she wants with her kids and don't let her undermine decisions you make for your own kids.

Sorry, didn't mean to get so heated but I just don't know where people get off. People need to just mind their business. I mean, if you were doing something aweful like cursing at your kids or something, I could understand maybe her wanting say something but geesh.

I think that people who don't have twins/multiples just don't understand the logistics of having more than 1 baby. We do one bowl, one spoon. They each have a sippy, but they pass them back and forth. Not only do they suck and chew on the same toys and furniture, but they suck on each other's hands and feet! Who cares!?!

In fact, why does your SIL care how you feed your kids? Next time she comments, have her show you how to use two bowls and two spoons.. and while you kids wail as she fumbles to juggle all of that (because at least with my kids, I can't put bowls on their trays or their hands go right into it!), you can sit back and say "Oh I see how much more hygenic this way is. Thank you for enlightening me."

I would reply with "I also let them eat off the floor and their pacifiers only get washed off occasionally." :blbl:

10 second rule! Oh wait... for a baby/ toddler, make that a 2 minute rule. *lol*

We did one bowl, one spoon as well. With alternating bites I knew that no one was getting left out.

My DH's aunt was over and she had to leave the room because she almost puked when she saw me feeding them that way. I just laughed. Silly singleton moms.

I'm horrible - they share a bowl and even a spoon, unless they are sick. And I plan to keep doing that until they start feeding themselves!

One bowl and one spoon...even when they are sick (unless it's the stomach bug...and in that case it's not like they were eating anyway.) But honestly, my kids all wind up with the same germs anyway I'd rather just pass it along quickly and get it over with. The one time I tried separating their eating stuff when one had a cold the other wound up getting it 5 days later...then it modified itself...and the first one got it again...it went back and forth in the family for 6 weeks! It was ridiculous. Any other time when I allowed them to share spoons, bowls, cups, whatever, they all get the cold within the same 2-3 days and then it's over with in a week or so. My mom always took issue with it too, but I just ignored her! LOL! Until they are in the house trying to juggle two bowls, two spoons and feeding the kids that way then I think they don't really have a right to talk about it.
