One baby is bigger than the other?

I had my 24 week peri appointment today, and they told me that one of the babies is right on track - 1lb5oz, but the other baby was only about 1lb and her fluid is on the low side. They want to see me back in 3 weeks to check the growth. I'm so scared - anyone have this happen to them?

After 20 weeks my girls were never the same size, and my baby A had less fluid than Baby B. As long as your Dr isn't too concerned about the difference, I would try and remain calm. I know, easier said than done. My girls were born at 28 weeks and had a 7oz. weight difference. Best of Luck!

Thanks for your response! Did they come early because of this issue? The peri said they would take them out early if the baby keeps falling behind...

Babies are usually different sizes, and 5 ounces isn't too bad at that stage.

But - the low fluid combined with the smaller size might indicate TTTS. Did your peri mention anything about that to you? My twins had TTTS. If you have any questions about it, please ask. :)

No they came early due to PTL, and after 4 weeks of bedrest they could no longer control it and Baby A was having Decels so they did an emergency c/s.

They are two different people, so it's OK for them to be different in size as long as it's not significant. Do they think your babies are identical? If they are, kike the pp poster mentioned, make sure your Dr is following you closely for signs of TTTS.

No, they are not identical. They have to be identical for TTTS, don't they?

    Yes, they do.

I don't have any advice other then to try and not stress to much about it. I'll be keeping you all in my thoughts.

Yep, PP is right - they have to be identical for TTTS.

The amount of fluid is subjective, so really don't stress too much! I had 2 u/s within 5 days of each other (not to check for the fluids, but it was done as part of the biophysical and the growth scan) with different techs. The 1st said Baby A's fluid levels were on the low range of normal. The 2nd said the levels were both normal.
I've read that drinking some gatorade will help with the fluids. I thought that was the reason why my levels went up, but my OB was skeptical, thinking that because of the positions of the babies, the tech may have missed a pocket or two of water.

Mine started measuring different around 22 weeks. They were only a few ounces at first, and we never were told much else, they just kept monitoring it via ultrasound. At birth, my baby B, weighed two pounds less than A! She is fine, everything was good, but wow, what a discrepancy! Both are healthy, no NICU, born at 38 weeks!

Oh, that's good news! Thanks so much for sharing! Are they fraternal or identical?

I have just been told the same thing at 24 weeks with fraternal twins. Baby B is not showing as much growth in the last month so I have 2 ultrasounds and non stress tests booked one this week (thurs)and next thurs. I am really hoping baby B shows good growth. I didn't think to ask what the weight difference was, I was too shocked that there was an issue at the time. This appt I've got all my questions ready and waiting!! I've upped my protein intake and trying to lay more on the left side and willing it to grow!!! It is just a waiting game, so frustrating. The good news is that the Ob/gyn's are on top of it with the monitoring asap.

Oh, good luck tomorrow! I hope everything looks great! It sounds like we have a lot in common - it's my Baby B that's small as well, they are both fraternal, and I'm also 24 weeks! When is your due date? Please post about how everything goes - I'll be thinking about you.
