    Hi Ladies,

Recently I have been having more menstrual like cramps after going to the washroom (pee)..I also noticed in the last couple of days a change in cervical mucous coming out. I rarely have had any (have had the menstrual cramps before though), and the mucous varies from egg white to a little thicker.

COuld this be my mucous plug slowly coming out? My cervix last week measured 1.5 cm, and I am just worried!

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks so much,

    TM :(

I didn't have the cramping, but I did start losing my mucus plug around 24 weeks. Really, the best (and grossest!) way to describe it is that it looks like snot. Kind of chunky, and really the same consistency as snot. I had a week or so of heavier discharge leading up to it, but then again having heavier discharge is just a normal pregnancy thing as well. If you're concerned, I'd call the doc. It can't hurt to call. Even after I started losing my plug, I managed to stay pregnant for 6 more weeks.

I started having menstral-type cramps at around 32 weeks. I was already in the hospital being monitored regularly. Neither the midwives for my OB were concerned. My babies stayed put until 37 weeks.

Yes, I've had them. I also was being monitored once when I had them, and my peri said it was just my uterus expanding...they weren't contractions (at least for me).

I've also had changes in discharge. What you're describing doesn't sound like a mucous plug though. When I lost mine with my son, it was thick, pink-tinged, and...well..snotty.

    Hi ladies,

Thanks for the replies :) The CM was thicker and like 'snot'-with a yellowish/cream colour. Def thicker and different in consistency then what I had before. I get it occasionally and it doesn't cover the TP-but it's noticible when it comes out. *sigh* I went to my OB and they did a manual check and cervix still remains short and ok...Daffodil wow what an awesome story u have! You held on for 6 weeks!

I didn't have a UTI- so hearing your ladies responses on the cramping made me feel much better. I have already been in hospital from 24-27 weeks for PTL- so I am still a nevous ninny.

    Thanks again!!

That menstrual cramping for me were contractions. Do they seem at all regular to you? Maybe drink some water and see if they go away.

Yup...same with me. Cramping meant contracting in my case!
