    Okay so I'm freaking out!

I put the babies down for their morning nap a few minutes ago. I always go into the office (right next door) and check email etc. while they fall asleep before going on to do other things so that I can hear them should they need me. They will usually talk, laugh and whine a bit before falling asleep. Well they were VERY quite (not a good sign). So I slowly open the door and peek in their room. DS was standing on the changing table! (its right next to his crib) He climbed out of his crib! I lowered the crib as far as it will go right after that but knowing my son he WILL find a way to get out.

Help what do I do? I thought I had alot longer to go before I would have to worry about his type of thing. They are definately too small for big kid beds but I certainly do not want him climbing out and falling and hurting himself.

:shok: I would be freaking out too! Mine don't do that...yet, but I've seen others posting that crib tents helped them "contain" their child. :p Does he have things in his crib that he could pile up together and help him out? :pardon: Good luck. :)

He might have used the changing table to climb. I wouldn't leave it right next to the crib and see if that helps. Then crib tents!

Get a crib tent! Bea broke her wrist falling out of the crib! Mine actually like their crib tents and think they are fun. Another benefit is that it put an end to throwing everything out of the crib and then crying for me to put it back.

Thanks ladies. I just looked at some crib tents and my gosh $60-$100 for a piece of netting with velcro :icon_eek: . But the piece of mind and safety of my babies is definately worth it if they really work.

Any suggestions on a good inexpensive one to get that is difficult for a child to undo? DS is very observant and can figure things out quite easily so I dont want to spend money on something that he will be able to figure out how to get off within a day or so.

I lowered both cribs to the lowest notch and moved the changing table to the other side of the room this afternoon. I also took everything out of DS's crib except his blankie. Hopefully that will keep my little monkey contained until DH get's paid and I can go buy a crib tent.

We bought the Cozy Crib Tent II and there is no way your child can undo this while in the crib and get out on their own. Even if he figures out a way to work the zipper from the inside, there is a way to fasten the zipper on the outside so that is no longer possible. You'd have to see the tent assembled to understand what I mean.

I understand about the price, but it is definately worth the peace of mind. We bought one for each of our boys and it has been WELL worth the money! I saved the boxes so I can try to sell them when we move the boys to twin beds.

    Good luck!

Ditto. You could try scanning Craigslist in the meantime and see if you can find a used one, but in my situation, I needed one ASAP so no time to do that. Even though they are pricey, it extended the life of the cribs probably another year, so it was worth it IMHO.

Yes, we made sure to get the Cozy II full surround to keep them from reaching between the slats and getting the zipper started. The back of the zipper is concealed in a pocket of fabric so they can't reach it without tearing the pocket (which Trevor has done but a needle & thread put an end to his escapes).

I'm afraid my tents won't be suitable for selling later (too many quick & dirty repairs here and there) but they were still worth the $. We've gotten 14 months of use out of them so far and I believe they will make it until we switch to beds around age 3.
