i tend to try to leave the girls alone in the family room (gated up) for a little while here and there so they are independent from me. i check on them literally every 1-2 minutes. i went to check on them and marina was SITTING ON THE COFFEE TABLE. she stood on the bouncy chair and climbed up that way (the only way she coulda done it). there she was, just sitting there, swinging her arms, like, "this is pretty cool, man."
it's time to rearrange the gate

I have a couple of climbing monkeys too. I also leave them unattended for short periods of time... I would try to discourage her from climbing up, or at least teach her how to get down safely. GL!!! I'm only 33, but I definitely have a couple of grey hairs from my two acrobats.

    I'm only 28 and I could weave you a gray basket! :p

Yeah-my Nicholas is a climber-Anthony too. I opened up the gate into the living room last week while I finished cleaning up breakfast. I thought it was rather quiet... I go into the living room-no Nicholas. I turn the corner-and there he was climbing the stairs! He was on the 2nd stair-so proud-and smiling!

We have this toy that they could lay down and kick at when they were infants. Well-it transforms into a little desk thing. The two of them climb up on the seat and try to climb up on the table part(which is slanted like a desk).

I'm gonna be ALL gray within a year! :p

ya know, when i found out we were having girls, part of me was relieved, like, "whew. girls are more mellow than boys. they don't climb things, get into things as much... they like to sit and play with dolls..." BOY WAS I WRONG.

That's what I thought too, that boys were more into climbing and getting into things, but my dd proved that theory wrong for me!

I'm glad you went in there, but the visual of Marina sitting there thinking she's all that and liking it is funny!

I'd only scare you with my stories so I'll just say that learning to use something to climb onto something else is a very useful skill for a toddler. Take a look up 2-3' higher than her current reach and start toddlerproofing if you have things put up "out of reach" for a baby because those things are reachable once they learn to move their stepstool of choice.

Ha! My dd is the one that has become most interested with climbing as well. She uses the little play chair to climb up on the couch. Agh! We do not have a coffee table or I'm sure that would be next.

Yeah but my boy likes to slam and throw things. Go figure. In 10 years they'll swap and she'll start slamming and throwing and he'll start climbing. Or something like that! :p
