Never thought I'd be visiting this forum! My twins are 22 months and were conceived with meds and IUI. I BF my twins and didn't have a period for 11 months. I went on a low estrogen BC pill for a couple months, but stopped taking it. To be honest, I feel a bit like an irresponsible teenager b/c I haven't been using protection thinking "we can't get PG on our own anyway"... Duh!! I tested about 2 weeks ago and it was negative and tested twice today....both positive!!

I just can't believe we're PG! Not just because of the IF struggles, but (TMI alert) we've been way too exhausted to even have sex that often (I'm talking not often at all) AND I'm 41 years old!!!!!

The age part is really freaking me out, in addition to money issues (I work 32 hrs/week now, but can't imagine that can continue w/3 in day care), my m/c risk at my age and stage of PG (8 weeks), the chance that something could be wrong w/the baby even if I make it to term.... My mind is just swimming and I could really use some support and words of encouragement...Please don't think we're not excited about this baby b/c we are. It's just so scary for us.

    Oh my goodness Tracey!! Congratulations!!!!

We also thought there is "no way it could happen to us" and we got pregnant with the twins. Then we thought, "there is no way it can happen again" and we got Joy! :) So great!

All my kids are 26 months apart. You will be fine! They will be almost 3 by the time the baby comes, don't worry. It will be great!

:yahoo: :hug99: :yahoo: Congratulations! It's a scary, overwhelming, exciting thing! Don't think about all those what ifs right now (yep, easier said than done), but just let yourself be excited. You can worry later if you need to.

Tracey, I can understand your worry.

We had Liam when the twins were 23 months old. I was 41 when I gave birth to him. And yes, I did give up my 30 hour/week job when he came along. The daycare and commuting costs would have made it ridiculous for me to work.

Congratulations! It is exciting and scary and nerve wracking. You will be fine. You will find ways to make it work. I got my last paycheck in April last year and we are doing okay. If you need another "old" shoulder to lean on, or talk to, whatever, feel free to PM me. Sounds like we have very similar situations. Wishing you a healthy and happy pregnancy!

Congrats...we have similar stories. Garrett was a suprise baby after 4 yrs of infertility with the twins. :) I was nursing still when I got pregnant with him. TOTAL shock. I am so glad we had him close to the girls though...they are so much fun now at 4 yrs old and 3 yrs old. :)

    Good luck.

Congratulations! The same thing happened to my dad's interpreter! Her twins are 7 months old though. She was told there was no way she could ever conceive on her own and here she is! You are not alone!

Congrats! I hope everything goes well and a smooth, healthy pregnancy for you! If it's any consolation I've had a perfect pregnancy with no complaints so maybe the same thing will happen for you. I really think it is one of God/nature's rewards (having an uneventful pregnancy) after getting an unexpected surprise if that makes sense.

Congratulations! What a wonderful surprise! You will worry but try not to. I know...can't really be done. I've been a big ole worry-wart this time around and the pregnancy with the boys' was fairly good until the end. So no advice there...I just say enjoy every moment. I try to, knowing this is very likely our last child.

Thanks, Maureen. We do have a lot in common it seems and I very well may need to reach out to you.

And thanks for everyone for all your warm wishes. As if things couldn't get weirder, I was cramping last night and am bleeding this am. I've prepared myself for the fact that at my age, a m/c is pretty common (50% I read somewhere). Couldn't that have happened the day BEFORE I decided to test twice and freak out my husband, get excited, and start making plans?? It's amazing how little time you need to feel connected to this new little person.... I'll keep you guys posted. I really would love to join you ladies here....

    Did you call the doctor?
Congrats, I hope this is nothing. I had bleeding during my pregnancy. It was so bad at 10 weeks that the doctor thought I was losing my girls, had an ultrasound right then and there, turns out i had a spot behind the placenta. Good luck.

Congrats! Let the news sink in and you'll get more and more excited. 41 is really not THAT old -- my mother-in-law had two kids after that age without any problems. And, if it's a singleton, it should be a lot easier on your body than the twins were! Good luck!

Well, I'm still bleeding, but not realy heavily and my cramps feel like PMS cramps. The doc sent me to the lab for blood work today, Sat and in a week. I guess they're assuming lowering HCG levels. The RN said I can call tomorrow for a level, but they won't have anything to tell me until they have additional blood work to compare it to.

So, we're preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. Anything else you ladies think I should be doing/asking?

What a blessing!!! Really, it is. Do not let your mind get clouded with negative thoughts because, case in point, we really don't have much control over anything that happens in our lives. Take good care of yourself, relax, and prop those feet up for a few hours a day. I wish you the very best!

Thinking of you. It must be a roller coaster of emotions. Shock, Happiness, now worry with the bleeding. Only time will tell, but I'm hoping your little bean is doing fine in there.

    Warm Regards,
    Stacy
