My boys are awesome sleepers---or *were* awesome sleepers. They both have their bottom two teeth and Nicholas's top two just broke thru yesterday...Andrew is still working on his. Since they began teething w/the uppers, they've stopped sleeping thru the night. They get hysterical as soon as we put them in their cribs at bedtime and then are up and down all night long. Tonight, we kept them out a little late for Halloween at the mall and I'm sitting here, now, listening to them scream. I keep going back in every few minutes to shush and rub them but it isn't helping and I'm getting SO upset. They used to go down at 6pm without an issue and sleep thru and that seems to be a thing of the past. They are definitely fed (I nursed them twice since attempting to put them down in the first place) and they are dry.....what do I do?? We've tried teething tablets, baby oragel....they've been burped....I'm going crazy and so is DH and we just are at a loss for what to do to console them. I never thought about having to do CIO w/them but is that my only option?? Please help...Please :(

well...they are sleeping now....all is quiet...we waited 5 min and went back in for pacis and a quick rub...let them cry for another 5 min (we could tell they were winding down) and went back in for pacis again...and now they are sleeping. I could cry...I'm so tired and I just hate hearing them cry...I'm so used to jumping and running when they need me....this is hard and I don't know if I'm doing all of this *right*

It's so hard hearing them cry, isn't it? It sounds like you covered all the bases, and they just needed to *work it out*. Your avatar is super cute btw!

On really bad nights I give James Tempra (baby tylenol) and it really does seem to help. It's not the kind of thing I want to do all the time, but sometimes we all need some sleep so we can function the next day (and it's easier to deal with the pain of teething when you're fairly well rested).

I agree. It is very hard. I did it with my daughter and it makes sense to let them CIO. They need to know they can do it on their own. They will. Before you know it you will have a good nights rest and so will they...you'll be glad you did it.

no advice to offer, just a big hug. I've started to let mine cio for naps and it's incredibly difficult to hear them but - i also know they need to learn to soothe themselves. I do agree with pp; if you've got all the bases covered, try some tylenol and see if it helps.

also - i posted recently about using the mesh feeders with frozen fruit in them for my teethers - it seems to REALLY help them. i haven't had dificulties at night but they've been super fussy during the day and that calms and distracts them.

and yes, love the avatar! how'd you do that?

Hey Andrea... It is hard i am sure but it gets easier... SAvannah is one that needs to fuss a little before she sleeps.. It sucks but it works. ;)

BTW - how did oyu do your avatar? I want to add the babies in mine but i dont know where to do it?
