I had my byweekly ultrasound today and Baby A is 4.5 pounds  and Baby B is 5 pounds  at 32 weeks 3 days gestation. Do these weights sound big to anyone else?

What's everyone's opinion on how much more weight these babies may gain by the time I make it to my 38 week limit?
They still have about 5.5 weeks to grow, unless I go into labor before that. Does anyone know the average weight gain per week in the last few weeks?

Mine weighed 4lbs5oz and 4lbs6oz at 30 weeks and lower 6lbs range at 34 weeks, they were born close to 8lbs a piece. I've always kept in mind that they could be overestimated, which happens more often than not, especially with twins. My friend had twins at 37 weeks, was told they would be 6-7lbs range and they were 4-5lbs range?! But in my case they were right, and they could very well be right in your case as well. Just keep in mind that u/s can be off.

Mine grew about 1/2lbs a weeks, a little less than 2lbs in 4 weeks.

    Keep them growing!!!

So, it sounds like mine are growing about the same as yours. You must have been really tired out, those are good birth weights.

I heard the weights could be off some. I'm going to try and keep 'em in as long as possible no matter how big they get.

    Thanks for the response.

They gave me similar weights, and assured me mine would be small because I am small (my first was 9.5 lbs, so, yeah, okay...). I had mine at 37 weeks, 1 day, because I ran out of space, and they were 6,13 and 6,9. Bigger than the dr expected, but still the smallest babies of all the women in my family (me, my mom, both my sisters). Depending how long you can keep them in, they could be close to 8 lbs. If I'd lasted another week mine would have been 7.5 or so.

Mine are little! I go back to the drs on the 29th, but a week and a half ago they were 2 lb 2oz and 2lb 10 oz. I want them bigger, Im having issues with facing any NICU stay!

Mine were little compared to you all. . my twinsies were 4.1 and 5.5 when they were born at 36 wks. I had a scheduled csection b/c my babygirl wasnt 'thriving' en utero, which in my case, just meant that she wasnt gaining weight like they wanted her to. . but they had no nicu time and came home w/ me 3 days later.

I think I've heard that they can gain up to a pound a week in the last 4 wks (which is considered 36-40) So I guess if you deliver earlier, they are probably gaining a little less than that.

At my 31 week u/s yesterday they were 4lbs and 3lbs 15 oz. The doctor said those weights are slightly higher than average, but not by much.

Just wanted to let everyone know that it's not always accurate so you can't rely base it as fact.... i guess they just get an idea about the weights, but they had told me mine were close to 6 pounds in my last visit so i was predicting at least 6 pound babies, but mine were closer to 5 at birth. It's all estimations and can be off.

I pretty much figure the weights will be off somewhat, I don't know how they can be exact although some are. I'm hoping they are a good weight when they are born. Thanks for the info. :D

Those sound like good weights, I hope mine are at least that much. My OB won't let me go past 38 weeks, so I'm hoping I can keep them in there close to that. Thanks. :D

Wow, great weights! If your's are slightly higher, mine must be on the high side of normal somewhat. Thanks. :D

At 32 week u/s our twins weighed 5.2 and 4.8 and at 35 weeks they weighed 5.12 and 5.14 - I will deliver on Monday at 38 weeks, 1 day so I am very curious to see how big they really are. I know the doctors can make educated guesses, but you never really know. I'm hoping they were close to right and that our babies will be almost average size! Good luck and keep up the good work!

at 33 weeks and 5 days, baby a was weighing in at 5lbs 5oz and baby b was weighing in at 5lbs even. i thought that seemed rather large, but aparently its average for a single baby.

I exercised with my first and he was 9.5 lbs. My second was smaller, but I had moved from sea level to 6000 ft altitude, and higher altitude does mean smaller babies because the air contains less oxygen. He was still 7.5 lbs, though.

Mine have consistently been measuring 2-3 weeks ahead. I am not a big person, so I didn't expect to have big babies, especially with twins, but I am just waiting till they are born to see how big they really are. I hope they stay put a few more weeks! :itwins:
