Just wanted to do a happy vent about how nice it is to have 8 month olds. The early months are grueling, when they can't do anything, can't entertain themselves, fuss all the time, and need constant attention. Today, on the other hand, I had a great afternoon. I had coffee and read during their afternoon nap. When they woke up, after nursing and playing a bit, I took them out for a 2-mile run in the jogging stroller. When we got home, we all got to eat - they had their solids "dinner" and were happy and occupied with that (they refuse to be spoon-fed, they only do finger foods, which makes everything easy), and I got to eat in peace. (Well, except that DS was giggling like crazy! :) ) When we were all done eating, I took them into the bathroom and they played happily on the floor while I showered. Then we had fun playing together until starting the bedtime routine.

MAN, this is good! I get to have fun with the babies AND have a life! AHHHHHHHH.

And this is also such a cool age because they just keep doing new stuff all the time. Every day they're making new sounds when they babble; just in the last week they've suddenly mastered sitting up unassisted; DD has just started crawling (DS has done it for months); they've finally just started playing and interacting with each other...

    Life is good. B)

(New moms, there is light at the end of the tunnel!)

What a great post!! I am glad you have finally turned that corner and things are becoming easier and more fun! I think it was around 9 months for us!

Thanks for posting this. . .it gives us hope. Although I must say I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. For 3 days in a row, the babies have fallen asleep by 7, up at 9:30 to eat, and then sleep until 4:30 for a quick bottle then back to bed until 7:30. I feel downright rested getting 6 hours of sleep in a row and getting to relax for an hour in the evening instead of walk the halls with a fussy baby.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread, just thought I would post more good news.

I totally agree!!! This is such a fun age. My girls actually play together and here is where I think it might be *easier* to have twins! Tonight they were cracking each other up because they were on the floor on either side of the exersaucer looking at each other under it. It was so stinkin cute and it entertained them while I ate some dinner!

My girls are 8 months too, and it is just now that I am able to put them on the floor sitting up with a bunch of toys around them and they will play with the toys and entertain each other. It doesnt always work out, but for the most part they are pretty independant.

Now if we could just get them to sleep through the night......

I really enjoyed reading that post and I believe I'm going to print it out and hang it on the wall to remind me that one day they will actually have fun WITHOUT looking at mommy's face. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE that they enjoy my company so much, but I would like to be able to shower or something without them freaking out. It's funny becasue Braxton is already in love with Caleb-just gigles when he looks at him. But Caleb wants nothing to do with his brother! It's hilarious. I'm glad you and your babies are having a blast together and you have some YOU time! You guys are my inspiration:)

I totally agree! I think before the end of the first year having twins actually does become easier than having a singleton. I never in a million years thought I would say that, but it is true! It makes those early months so worth it!

It is really nice to read this....just knowing there is a light at the end of tunnel! My boys are 2 months and I was just telling Dh it's just SO much work without a whole lot of reward... I don't even feel like they "know" me yet....ya know?! It's a good thing they are so darn cute!!!

My girls are now 22 months and 18 months was a fabulous turning point. They are talking up a storm, playing with each other and totally interacting with each other. To hear them hollar each other's names to get their attention melts my heart. Today they were taking a bath and Lucy hit Zoey on the head. I told Lucy to say she was sorry and at the same time they hugged each other and said sorry. It was so adorable. The first year was very difficult but it just keeps getting more fun and easier!
