Old Navy Costumes?

I'm about to place an order for Halloween costumes at Old Navy and wondering if anyone has advice on sizing. My girls wear 3T clothes. They're thin but need 3T for length. I'd prefer to get costumes that are slightly big so they can use them for dress up all winter. Old Navy's sizes are 2T/3T and 4T/5T. Am I crazy to buy 4T/5T? (like, would they fall off?) Or do the sizes run small and I should size up? I haven't measured them lately, but I think my girls are 37 inches tall.

    Thanks!

Their sizes run big! I bought 2T size costumes for my twins when they were 2 1/2, they were way too big! They wore them last year when they were 4.

Ooooh, tough call. For Old Navy shirts, I ALWAYS buy a size up (meaning, my boys are wearing 4T Old Navy shirts--today actually, but normally wear 3T). For pants, they run big, but they do have adjustable waists on their jeans. I live in the Midwest, where we layer a LOT under costumes due to the cold, so I'd buy the 4T/5T, but if you don't have to layer, I'm not sure what to tell you. Aren't most of their costumes just a fleece thing you put OVER something (like a bumble bee body with a shirt & pants underneath)? Or is it a one piece?

Do you live anywhere near an Old Navy that the girls could try a costume on? If anything, order 2 sizes & send back the size that doesn't fit (or return to a store...if you're close enough).

Good luck...I hate shopping Old Navy because their sizing SUCKS!

I would do the 2t/3t. They do run bigger. If they are costumes that have bottoms, then they will be fallng off of them. If it's just something that goes over them, then you may consider the bigger size. We bought DS a dragon costume there once and got the 2t/3t and he was 3. Fit great! It was all once piece and kind of zipped up the front.

My girls wore the 2t/3t last year for the ON costumes. This year, Meara will still fit into them but Ana is too tall so I bought her 4t/5t. I'm waiting for it to come in, but I'm expecting it to be HUGE. Meara wears 2t or 3t in bottoms and 3t in tops and Ana wears 3t or 4t in bottoms and 4t in tops (long torso).

I got one of those costumes for my DD (the butterfly). She is 3 years old and very skinny and tall. 25th percentile for weight and 99th percentile for height. I got her the 2T/3T and it fits *perfectly*. I tried the next size (4T/5T) and it was way too big. The pants stayed on (sort of) but they were super long. And the butterfly part was almost to her knees. (You have to see it to see what I mean) BTW, she is a tad over 30 pounds and 39" in height.

    Hope this helps!
