Mine looked more lopsided--yours is more uniform. It seemed like mine were all cockeyed to each other--the cords came off in completely weird separate directions, and the placentas were kind of rounded away from each other where they joined, if that makes sense.

By the way, I think placentas are really cool. I wish I had photographed mine, but my DH had the camera and went with the babies to the recovery room while I was being stitched (which is when I asked to see the placenta).

I agree. I never thought to ask dh to take a pic of it! Bummer.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing. No idea about ID Or Frat. Isn't it possible that they were two sep placentas but fused at some point so they now appear as one? Heard that somewhere.

Heck no! I didn't even want to see it, but I'm glad I did now and I'm glad my dh took a pic of it. It is pretty neat to have. This was my second c-sec and I was alot more relaxed. With my older ds, I didn't even get a pic of me with him at the hospital and we were there for 5 days!!! So, this time we took pics of everything!

Oh, and my dh went back to the OR to get the pic after we were in recovery. He was committed to have a pic! :D Gotta love men!

Yep! That's what my boys placentas did. There is absolutely no doubt that my boys are fraternal, but the placentas were fused together.

You know I have had 5 kids, and I think that is the first time I have ever seen a placenta! Cool!

Beautiful! :) It really is an amazing organ. The only mammalian organ grown in adulthood with an expiration date. I'm fascinated by the whole concept of it growing, how the exchange works, etc.

We saved the twins' placenta for my other kids to look at the next day. The cord insertion points were right next to each other (maybe 1 inch apart). We buried it in our yard with a tiny baby who I miscarried at 3 months more than a year before the twins were born. It seeemed like a rich, bountiful and cushey place for a fetus to rest.

Wow, that is pretty cool! Just looking at your girls on your siggy ticker I would say they are identical.

I had a fused placenta with my twins. They are obviously fraternal since they are a boy girl combo.

I never saw mine( but then again, I was feeling pretty good from the drugs, so I am pretty sure I would have had no idea what they are talking about) and DH said that he was never asked to see it...but that is pretty cool. Something that fed our babies for 9 months....

WOW!!! I cant believe how HUGE that is. And to think I was carrying something that size (but in 2 spots) WITH the twins in there too. No wonder we are uncomfortable!
