I have been home with the babes for 2 DAYS now alllllll by myself. It is a blizzard outside, so we can't go for a walk and I am running out of things to do with them. We have exersaucers, gyms, tummy time, songs, books, I put beans in a jar to make noise, bubbles...help! I am catching myself leaving them in the exersaucer while I do other things...I feel bad about that, too. Help me keep my sanity while stimulating the babies. THANKS!!!

OK, help me brilliant mommies...I need advice.

You sound like you are doing so much with your babies. I think it would be okay to leave them to entertain themselves for a few minutes while you take what sounds like a much needed mommy time. Also, IMO they should have a few minutes a day by themselves so they learn how to entertain themselves.

I forgot, how do your babies do with the exersaucer? Mine are a little older then you, but they were born early. I have been tempted to get it out to see how they do.

I AGREE...I just don't how long I should let them be by themselves. I do feel like I am setting them up to need entertainment.
How long can I let them play by themselves without me in their faces?

I hear ya ... it's snowing here too. :( Spring, my butt!!!

Let's see ... do you have any plastic eggs from Easter? You could play with those, rolling them around, filling them with coins or things to shake ... turn on the radio to dance music and take turns picking one up and dancing all around ... ummmm .... yeah, I'm in the same boat as you. You could always give them a bath if you get desperate.

And there's nothing wrong with leaving them in the exersaucer for a bit to get something done ... you don't have to feel like you personally need to entertain them 24/7. They are just fine with some alone time too. Yesterday I had MIL coming over for dinner and DH wasn't coming home until right before, so I ended up carrying one around in a Bumbo so he could watch me clean, then plunked them under the activity mat so I could prep dinner ...

Have you plunked them in front of a window and talked about snow? Mine love staring out the window at the snow, it occupies them for awhile ...

Today is one of those days where you kind of can't wait for them to nap so you don't have to entertain anymore! I can't WAIT for warmer weather!!!

Hey, thought of two other things ... put a warm blanket in the crib and do "naked time" with just their diapers on, mine love that ... also, we do reverse-tummy time where I take turns with the boys, one will be in the bumbo on on his back on the floor with a toy and I put the other one sitting on my chest, which they love, I then have them lean over with thier hands in mine and they push up off of me, they like that too!!!

I think it's great for them to learn to entertain themselves sometimes. I always definitely know when they have had enough because the yelling & screaming will start! It's almost like "hey mom, look at me, look at me!" ;)

Oh, those are great ideas!! Thanks!! I love the naked one...they never get to be free since they have only lived in the winter weather...that's sounds great. They would probably just love their little feet to be free from socks!?!

    Thanks everyone!
