Last week, I had Marcus' parent-teacher conference--it was his teachers' last day before starting her maternity leave.

I was sooo proud of him! At their school they use the Guided Reading program. Macus is currenly in level G--but just about level H (you need to score 96% to move on, and he scored 93%) Level H is a crossover 1st/2nd grade level! This is the kid who didn't read anything when he walked into K last year!

He also has perfect grades in Math--just overall is doing great!

I will add on Jonathan when I have his conference next week.

Anyone else want to add a brag?

That's fantastic! It's even more wonderful given how far Marcus has come in just one year. And math, too! Congratulations, Marcus!! :clapping:

We'll look forward to hearing Jonathan's good news, too!

We don't have conferences until November 17, so I don't have any scholastic brags, but both Hayden and Brady's teachers have said they are delightful to have in class. :) And I chaperoned Jackson's class to an orchestra concert Monday, and I told him how very proud I was of his behavior. He and his brothers have become really good at sitting still and listening quietly and showing respect for the performers and the people around them, and that makes me really proud! We took them to the opera last week (yes, the opera!) and they were absolute champs!

Sounds like Marcus is doing great. We had conferences last week and I was very proud of my girls. Last year neither one was reading when they started kindergarten. Faith started first grade at a level 6 in reading and has progressed to a level 16 which is were they want them at the end of first grade. Hannah was just tested to be reading at a 2nd grade level and is being pulled out of class with some other 1st graders for a special reading group with the Quest teacher(gifted program). They seem to love school and have adjusted to going all day. Thanks for letting me brag!

We haven't had conferences yet, so I have nothing to add. But I will say, "Way to go Marcus!!!" That is great Sharon!

    Woooooooohooooooo for Marcus!!

Sharon that is great news!! Do you know who his replacement teacher is already? Is he/she a good fit for Marcus's continued success?

Our Teacher conference's aren't until November 10th, I will be able to update then :)

Michele, I have actually been able to speak to her a few times. She is YOUNG! But she is nice and will continue to do well. Also, they have a basic skills teacher who comes into the class daily to work with reading, so she can pick up any slack. He will do fine, but will be happy to see his original teacher come March.

Jon's conference is on Nov. 13.

Amy, I did do my share of bragging about Nathan's medals here in PC forum. :D Thanks for asking! :)

We got report cards yesterday. Joel's lowest grade was an 89 in science. The rest were 90 or above!!! I am thrilled. I have parent teacher conferences today. With everything we have been going through with him, including a new diagnosis a few days ago, (they are throwing out Aspergers, they think he has Fetal Alcohol Syndrome) it was great to get some good news! He still needs some help with social issues, but that is going to take quite some time.

The twins report card was good. Nothing major. They didn't have any "N's" (not progressing toward expectations), they mostly had "P" or "M" "progressing and meeting." No "exceeds" though. It is very hard to remember not to compare them to Joel. He has always been very advanced academically, though socially he is very awkward. The twins are completely the opposite. They are my social butterflies and are what I would consider average kids.

Overall, it was very good. I meet with both teachers today, so hopefully I will get more insight.

Congratulations to all three boys, Cristina!

It looks like Joel is figuring out how to turn things around :)

I had Jonathan's conference yesterday. He is doing great! Other than social studies (one test--one wrong) all his grades are 99-100. His teacher told me that he is a wonderfully innocent boy (doesn't get caught up in the boy/girl dynamic, and teasing others) :) She also said he is very self motivated.

For Math, she is going to send home a packet of Enrichment pages that he can do in lieu of his regular math homework--for example, if homework is "homework 5.2" then he could do "enrichment 5.2" instead. He is excited by the prospect of harder math work.

As for his speech, he does have some articulation delays along with his lisp, so he will be getting evaluated by the school soon, and hopefully get speech through school.
