To carry over 9lbs of baby in your belly? My son was 7lbs when I had him, I cannot imagine how hard it is when both babies get to be 5+ lbs. Can you get out a chair?? LOL, I ask because I have trouble with that now.
Well I've done two singletons over 9lbs, and the twins combined weight was 14lbs 9oz., plus the blood volume, amniotic fluid and placenta. I am currently pregnant with a singleton and although I might look like I am carrying twins, I always tell people I feel so light in comparison to that pregnancy. I remember the hardest thing was rolling side to side in the bed. I would literally have to pick up my belly. Oh and I am only 5'2". Yes, I could get out of a chair, but preferred sitting...so much easier.
I think it all depends on the person. I gave birth to my twins at 36w3d and they were 5 and 5.8 lbs ... so I was carrying 10.8 lbs of baby. And I was up, walking around, not super uncomfortable, and still sleeping ok at night. But I'm tall 5'8'' and not a small boned person, so I think it was easier for me to carry the weight, ya know? Maybe if you are super tiny it will feel a million times heavier ... I'm not sure. Hopefully someone who is smaller than me can answer to that!
Gurllll........I actually bought a cane to help me walk! I was experiencing severe pelvic pain because of the babies resting on a nerve in my pelvic area which felt like lightening pain shooting from the pelvic area down that leg and penetrating that knee. I have never empathized with the elderly and disabled like I do now...I even thought of going to see if I could even get a temporary handicap tag so that I would'nt have to park so far. I always ride the scooter in the stores that have them..and I utilize the wheel chairs if the scooters are not provided.(not exaggerating!) Now when I sleep...the 9 mixture of King and queen size as well as body pillows only help so much...Once I get comfy I have to use the restroom because they are resting also on my bladder and if not the restroom...my hip hurts after laying on one side for so long...and turning over....or trying to get out of the bed...........I would turn over and find that my belly is still laying on the bed..sometimes I have to literally pick my belly up (I already feel like I am lifting my babies) to get out of bed and some times I can actually feel their body parts while doing this. (It feel like weights..12-13 lbs. of weights) One lady posted that she felt like she was crawling to the finish line...I feel like I'm either right behind her or in front of her but crutching, caning, wheel chairing and limping my way there!!!!!!!!!!But it's all worth it! Is what everyone says.. I'm sure
It wasn't too bad. My oldest was 9lbs+ and my twins had a combined weight of 15 1/2 lbs. I could still walk, drive a car, take a shower, go to the supermarket. Sleeping was the worst part and I loved being a couch potatoe sometimes ... Even though they measured big, I was still amazed how much baby came out ...
LOL dd2 was almost 9 lbs but carrying twins is so much different. Probably b/c the weight is distributed differently too. DD2 gets so excited when I get off the couch w/o help. She's like "Mommy you got up ALL BY yourself"

You are right about the distribution. Mine are side by side in there right now and when I sit it feels like they are each trying to pin a side down.
DS1 was 9.5 lbs and the girls were 13,6 together. DS1 didn't reall slow me down, although I am 5'1" and did get to be unable to drive because I couldn't reach the pedals. With the girls I couldn't drive sooner, and toward the end (I went 37 weeks) I could not get up off the floor without assistance of some sort (DH, a chair to pull myself up on), otherwise, not too bad. I couldn't go as fast, but I was able to vacuum and things like that right up to the end. Oh, I couldn't unload the washer because I couldn't get close enough to reach all the way down to the bottom, but if I had a front-loader I could have.

I have a front loader and often need help to unload. Ours aren't on pedestals so reaching down low is a PITA.
I just want to say I think you all are amazing!!! I was such a wimp crying about how uncomfortable I was and my biggest baby was 6lbs 5oz and that was only at 36 weeks....my combined twin weight was only 4lbs 13oz.... I have always thought you all deserve a medal for being able to carry that much weight!!
I'm not going to lie - it's painful. Mine were 7 lbs. 13 oz. and 6 lbs. 2 oz. at birth - so just under 14 pounds. The last month or so was awkward - I had trouble walking and standing up. I could really only walk around a store for 10 minutes tops and then I had to sit down. Sometimes I got round ligament pain so bad I'd be unable to move standing in the back of a store. Standing up was HARD. I got stuck once around 35 1/2 weeks. Tried to get up, immense pain, sat back down and was afraid to try again. Just get lots of help at the end and you'll be fine. I still remember the absolute feeling of heaven when they gave me the epidural. I told everyone in the room it was the first time in 2 months I hadn't been in pain. C-section recovery was a cakewalk compared to actually carrying them for me! But you'll get through it. I promise. ETA: I could still get around to the end. I wanted so bad to use a wheelchair at the store, but settled for just yelling at DH when he took longer than 12 seconds to pick out salsa. I worked until 35 weeks, drove to the end, walked into the hospital. And I was always able to sleep okay. So, hopefully some positives to offset my tales of pain! Like caba, I'm 5'8", so I think the height helps some.
At my last ultrasound at 35wk the babies were measuring 5lb and 5lb 6oz so a little over 10lb combined. I have to say that I am feeling pretty good for carrying around that much baby. My biggest singleton was 7lb 6oz. There isn't anything that I can't do (except the obivious heavy lifting). I do get tired out more quickly but that is to be expected. I can get up easily from a chair or couch but get me in a recliner and I need assistance.
My sons were 6 lbs, 2 oz. and 6 lbs, 9 oz. with two separate placentas. Now I'm pregnant again with a singleton. To be honest, I don't notice much difference. I'm a little smaller this time, but I'm definitely carrying lower. My main issue toward the end of both pregnancies is/was being incredibly slow on my feet and having a sore back.
my singletons were 6lbs 5 oz and 7 lbs 4 oz so it was a significant change to carry 10+ pounds of baby with the twins. Just a lot heavier but not anymore pain than with the singleton.
Something I haven't seen anyone else say, I had a really hard time washing my feet, and I had to wear slip on shoes because I couldn't tie them. I'm 5'4" and my belly bump when from my pubic bone to my rib cage. One of my friends who was pregnant around the same time, saved money on materity clothes by wearing drawsting pants below her belly. If I had done that it would have been indecent.
