OK, I don't like the whole baby food stage

It's just all coming back to me how much I didn't like feeding the girls baby food, and now I have totally procrastinated starting solids with Caleb. He'll be 7 months in two days and I'm still just at one serving a day (and sometimes I don't even do that!) and I only started a few weeks ago. I just don't like it! Caleb puts his hands in his mouth while I'm trying to feed him and it makes it more annoying, it's a mess. I feel so behind now though. I wish I could just skip this stage, I don't know why I dislike it so much, but as I was sitting there feeding him, I remembered having the same feeling with A&B.
Wish I could just fast forward to finger food!

LOL! I hate it, too. It is such a mess. I am constantly doing laundry. Of course my girls like the brightest most colorful mush, sweet potatoes, squash, mangos. But, I think the three feedings a day that they were up to at 6 months helped them sleep through the night. Once they started eating more solids they slept so much better and didn't wake up cranky. Maybe it was a coincidence, but if it is a fact it is so worth the hassle!

i hear you - i'm watching my girls like a hawk to see when they've got a basic pincer grasp going. i'm switching them to finger foods as soon as possible! i gave them both some grated cheese yesterday - Riley did pretty good. she was able to pick it up & get some of it into her mouth but poor Danika had a fit because she couldn't pick the cheese up. i felt pretty bad - she was so upset. they can both chew really well though so hopefully it'll happen sooner rather than later.

Yep.. I just barely started 3 meals a day YESTERDAY and the third meal was just some peach pieces.

that's why I skipped it totally with my first two and only did it for a month or two with the babes. Off the real food we went. HATE the baby food. :bad:

I'm the opposite. I liked it so much more than all the food they are wasting from it being thrown on the floor now! I'd much rather be washing clothes than the floor! :)

I had to think for a second why you were posting in this forum. :D I actually didn't mind it, but that was partly because I'd been dreading it so much that it was much easier than I expected. Also because A&S both really liked baby food and were cooperative about being fed, whereas they were very iffy on table foods, so that was much more stressful for me.

    The stains, however, were awful.

P.S. Any new pics of Caleb? ;)

So funny, I was the opposite ... I like the baby food stage, they liked everything, and it was SO easy to get them to eat veggies! I hate meal planning, and thought finger foods and figuring out what to cook them was a royal PITA.

It's probably just annoying now becuase he is still learning how to eat ... once he figures it out (and you up the # of meals) it will be easier ...

and you aren't a bad mom! haha ... you are too much.

    Add me to the list!!!!
Sometimes I like it when they are not that hungry and are not tired...and they make cute and funny faces...
but it still such a mess!!! I would like to take them for walks afterwars before taken a bath...but
they are sooooooooooooooo messy! IDS does ok,..but dd grabs the bib and rubbs it all over her face....puts
    her hand in her mouth..etc..etc..
f I could I would give them a bath after every meal... I like clean babies :D

I was doing breakfast...but I started skipping that and just do dinner... it didn't make any difference on their eating/sleeping

I'm glad to know i'm not the only one who doesn't love the meals/feeding. Mine are 7.5 mo old and we are just adding bfast. Perhaps it wasn't a good idea but i started with lunch b/c they were, and REMAIN, not good afternoon nappers so I was hoping for the miracle of solid food to help with that. So we only now do 2 meals a day and I'm not looking forward to adding the third - just the idea of thinking of what to have for them. Thank you for posting, sounds like we have a LONG way to go!

Yeah Ainsley was late eating finger foods, she liked baby till nearly 12 months. So for a while there I was feeding her baby food and giving Bea finger food. That was annoying!

Here's a new picture of Caleb, he's pulling up in his crib! Caleb

Awww, snittens, I'd let you feed me babyfood. I promise I won't spit it out everywhere.

    :)
