Sooo. I want to get these babies OUTTA HERE! lol!
I went in with contractions on Thursday morning and they were constant, and about 7 or 8 in an hour, and then when I went in they slowed down and chilled out while I was in the birthplace. So they checked me, I was at "about a fingertip" dilated, and they sent me home. Said my cervix was starting to get soft but was still pretty long.
How fast can all that change? Does it mean I have a long way to go? The nurse pretty much told me I could have them anytime and they would be healthy babies and they expected me to have them much sooner because of my bicornuate uterus and obviously the fact that it is multiples. So I got taken off bed rest and told I can pretty much do whatever, unless I have a reason to wait to have them in which case to just be on bed rest or take it really easy if I wanted to get through the weekend or go longer... But that I don't have to.

This is crazy - if it's totally ok to have them now, why did my doctor schedule my C-section for 39 weeks?!

My doctor isn't allowed to schedule anything until 38 weeks even though having them naturally at 36/37 would be fine, she said. I think for most drs., it's a liability thing.

I don't think Dr.s ever schedule a c-section (unless it's emergency or there is a medically necessary reason) before 38ish weeks. There is still a chance before 38 weeks that they could need some NICU time. We even saw full term babies in the NICU. As far as "as fast can all this change", things can change pretty quickly or not, you just don't know. Hang in there, they will be here before you know it, but the longer you can keep them in the better.

As bad as you want them out (& I totally get it!) a few days can put on a couple extra ounces of fat, they can practice breathing and maturing a bit. Mine were born at 37w 5d and did really well, but still had a bit of a difficult time. For example, they got the hiccups CONSTANTLY in the beginning. My 5lb 7oz baby dropped to 4lbs 10oz and had jaundice. There is a very big difference between a 7lb baby and a 5lb baby at birth. Hang in there, momma! 1 day at a time.

My Dr. told me that if they weren't out by 36 weeks they would either induce or do a scheduled c-section... She said that the risk of leaving them in me at that point was greater than the risk of them being premature... Maybe I have other risk factors though? She said something about the placental breakdown..

O Sweetie! I SO sympathize with you! That was when I was at my wits end too! Keep them in as long as they want to stay though! My boys were born at 38 weeks and they were take home twins. They went right into our room with us and it was nice to have them with me. :)

I remember crying a lot, the pain is unbearable for sure. You are doing FANTASTIC! You've beat a lot of the odds already! NICE JOB!

Good luck and congrats! I know you're uncomfortable but only a little while longer.

I may be the exception because I had worsening pre-clampsia but my c-section was scheduled at 35 weeks on the nose. My husband kept telling the peri that he wanted to wait and schedule the c-section on August 13th (it fell on a Friday) but my peri said there was no way I was going to make it that far. If I hadn't gone into labor they would have taken the babies out via c-section no later than 36 weeks.

Now since my boys were born 5 weeks premature and were 4lbs 15oz and 4lbs 14oz they spent 0 time in NICU and 7 and 10 days in PICU so they could get big enough to pass their car seat challenge. They were perfectly healthy and would have come home right away if they could get into that car seat :)

But hang in their Momma, you are doing GREAT! I know how uncomfortable it is carrying around all them babies but like some of the other ppl said, you've already beaten the odds. Just hang on a bit longer, keep those feet up and rested and if all else fails just start yelling at your doctor...lol

My c section was scheduled for 36 weeks 6 days. My dic doesn't let twins go past 37 weeks and that was on a tuesday and he doesn't work Tuesdays :) they ended up coming at 36 weeks 5 days because I was having contractions once a minute and was 5 cm. You're so close up being done! Take it one day at a time now. Everyday is a few more ounces on their little bodies :)

Also, I was dilated 2 cm for over 2 weeks. It can take awhile to get there :)
