My 10 month olds are still getting 4 bottles a day and I try and feed htem 3 solid meals a day (they don't always eat that much). I wanted to know how/when to change this to three bottles? I think I could easily have one twin take 3 bottles, but the other one, still would probably need 4 for nutrition - she is smaller and eats very little.. but how can i give one three bottles and one 4? the one who got less would want a bottle if she saw her sister with one not to mention that this would put them on different schedules.. just trying to figure this out..
do you think it hurts to just continue to give them both 4 bottles a day?

I have one bottle fed baby and she still takes 4 bottles a day (when she wakes up, before each nap, when she goes to sleep) and I have no problem with it. We are not anywhere near being ready to switch to sippies at this point either. I didn't know we were supposed to get them down to 3 a day :unknw:

I don't think you "have" to have them down to 3. Between 10-11 months, I did replace their afternoon bottle (2:30p.m....right after nap so they had a bottle first thing in the morning, breakfast 30 min. later, bottle around 11:00, lunch at 11:30, snack at 2:30, bottle around 5:30, and dinner at 6:00) with a sippy of water (which they didn't really drink) and a snack. That was mainly because they just weren't drinking much of it. They did well with dropping it and getting a snack. I think the goal is to try to have them to three bottles and three meals with a snack or two so when you transition to whole milk and toddler foods full time closer to the one year mark, it's a bit easier. If you (or them) aren't ready...don't fret.

At 10 months, my boys had 2 8 oz bottles a day (morning and night). They 3 regular meals and two snacks a day. Our pediatrician was O.K. with it and our boys were healthy and growing right on track. That being said, I don't think it would hurt anything to keep them on 4 bottles a day. Do what you think is right for your little ones. If they are getting nutrition and growing and your ped is pleased with their progress, I wouldn't stress.

I just managed to bring mine down to 4 bottles from 5. I did this to try to help with the solids, they are still stuggling to eat though. So I'm not even thinking about dropping again. Oh and yes they are still on formula.

Mine got 4 bottles a day (8am, noon, 4pm and bedtime at 8 pm with solids at the first three) from 5mos until 10.5 mos when we switched to sippies. They still got four sippies of formula (then milk at a year) at the same times until about 15mos. None of my kids ever dropped to 3.

My dd was doing 3 bottles, morning, mid afternoon, before bed at 10 months, with 3 meals and 2 snacks. But I don't you "have" to do it, you do what works for you and your babes. It's the amt of formula, not how many times a day they are getting it, that matters. Between 25-32 oz of formula a day they should be getting, and the amt will decrease as you add solids in.

Awhile ago I started topic"10 month old schedule-one twin refuses bottle(nutritionist update)". If you want to read, I believe its on page 4.

To make story short, after trying many different ways, I just dropped 1 bottle from 4.
My twins are getting 730 bottle(DD spoon fed, refuses bottle or sippy cup or any cup, hmm!)
then solids, 1230 bottle, then solids,430 solids (stage 3 )and 8-bottle.
I believe they are going through phase and at this point they are not into food much. As long as they eat something, it means that is how much they need.
    Good luck.

We were down to 2 bottles a day by that point I think. Maybe 3 at 10 months and then down to 2. Could you increase ounces at 3 feedings to get them both to 3? Cutting bottles was always much easier than I expected it to be. They would just compensate by eating more solids.
