What do I do. Will they get sick too? I am going to try and rest as much as possible, and just limit my contact with them.

I try and keep them away from sick people and i go and get sick. We are not bf so they will not get my antibodies. We don't have anyone that can come and care for them.

I'm so sorry you are getting sick! I recently passed on my cold to my boys, despite my best efforts. I washed and sanitized my hands like crazy but they still got it. It wasn't until a few days into my cold that I realized I should wear a mask! I wonder if that would help??
    Feel better!

I could have my dh get a mask on his way home from work.

Have you ever tried Zicam? I swear that stuff works! I use the nasal swabs. You might still get sick but it won't be as bad. A mask would be a good idea, I think. And TONS of handwashing! Feel better soon! :hug99:

Thankfully when I got my first cold after the birth of my babies they did not get it. From my understanding babies have a high resistance for some time after birth. I did not BF at all and they were born at 34w3days and I got my first cold when they were just under 6 weeks old and neither one got the cold. I was the only person taking care of them from the morning till DH came home at night from work so they were definately in the middle of the snot zone but thankfully neither one caught it.
I got a second cold a few months later and again neither one seemed to catch it so again I am very thankful for that.

Good luck and hopefully neither will catch it.

My mom got the flu when the girls were 5 days old!!! THey were born at 35.5 weeks. And had only been home from the hospital 2 full days! SHe woke up that morning w/ fever of 103.5! She went home immediately! It was so scary that day! I was home w/out any help for the biggest part of the day. I had a csection & also had other complications so I was completely wiped out! I was suppose to take it VERY easy that week. But what do you do???? My SIL came over & disinfected the house. Then my grandma came over for the evening & helped. DH had to work late. SO about 1 hour before he got home Sarah (the little one) got extremely fussy. I started to freak out thinking she had the flu too! And what that could do to a premmie was making me crazy! My pedi told me to just monitor their temps & make sure mom didn't come back for a week. When DH walked in at 6:30 - 7 I was in tears & histerical.

I understand! But they still haven't been sick yet!!! THANK GOD! I just had a cold last week. But anyway, the pedi said that their immune system is so high for the first several weeks that they usually are fine. Just keep your eyes on them as I'm sure you already do! :) Let us know if you need anything!

You actually gave your babies antibodies through the placenta for many months so there's a strong chance they won't get your cold.

Also, you are contagious before your symptoms even appear. The virus is already stirring in your body before you even know it.

My mom swears by the Cold Eze tablets at clearing up a cold quick. It will make you feel well enough to take care of them. Hope you are feeling better soon.
