[SIZE=12pt]Mikayla had chipped her 2 front teeth when she was 8 months old using a walker for the first time....she fell and went kerplop. Her teeth looked ok so life moved on. Well, 3 weeks ago she fell again on her mouth. She split open her lip and I thought it was just that. A few days later I really looked at her 2 front teeth and it looked like the one was severely knocked. (Not knocked out...just damaged somehow). Now, one of her front teeth is turning gray. :( I'm devastated by this! I guess I'm calling the dentist first thing in the morning.

Anybody have any experience with this? What will the dentist do? Will they pull her baby tooth? HELP! Worried and devastated!

Something else I can relate to. My daughter's tooth has been grey for some months now. Luckily, it coincided with their first visit to the dentist. They took a look, said it was dead, and left it. They said just to keep check and call if there are issues. Their idea was it is going to fall out anyway so why bother. I guess they can pull it but she is just going around with it.

Mitchell has the same issue going on now. He fell big time at daycare (fell on another kids head, that child had two bleeding teeth marks in his head) Mitchells two front teeth got knocked in separate directions, the gums were bruised and bleeding. I rushed him to the dentist. They numbed it and got them moved back pretty good. She told me that the nerves were most likely dead and that he would most likely have to have it pulled soon. At first it was fine but now there is an obvious difference in color from the other. She said that it can develop an absess, so to look for any whitish looking "pimple like" thing on or near the gumline. That will be the sign it needs to get pulled...BREAKS my heart. I don't want him losing his teeth this early!!!

My dd hit both her front teeth on a head board when she was 2 or so. They got really grey, very dark for a while (6 mos?) then they lightened up. They are not as bright white as the rest, but I hardly notice that they are black. the dentist told me that they can actually bruise, and when the bruise goes away, they can lighten up. She did tell me to watch for white spots above them on the gum b/c the roots can die and cause an infection. So far, so good.

This happened to one of my guys. It is one of his top, front teeth. It turned gray within 4-5 days of falling. At first he was having problems biting into food. We had a followup appt in 6 weeks. The tooth was just on the border line of needing to have a root canal. Luckily he never developed an abcess which would have required the canal. This happened last summer. Now his tooth has lightened up in color. It's only slightly discolored from the one next to it.
Good luck at the dentist. I hope you get good news.

[SIZE=12pt]Well, we went to the dentist yesterday. He said he definitely sees the discoloration of the one tooth. Her gums look good tho. There is no white "pimple" like think above her gums/tooth. He said there is nothing we can really do about it. It will either darken, or lighten over time...depending on how it heals. I'm glad there is no infection, it was just bruised pretty bad. He said his little girl did the same thing and she had to walk around with a brown/gray tooth for a year before she lost it when she was 6. Unfortunately we have 48 months to wait! Thanks to all of you who responded. It makes me less frantic to know other children have done this too.
