Oh my word!

We've been looking for a baby gate for our carpeted stairs, but since our 9 month old kids have been totally and completely uninterested in the stairs, we weren't feeling urgent about it.

I was playing with the kids downstairs, and then went upstairs to fire off a quick e-mail.

And I heard a pad, pad, pad right outside our office door. Ian had crawled all the way upstairs on his very first try and was crawling across the upstairs hallway. :blink:

I can't believe he made it all the way up on his first time exploring stairs (there are about 20 of them), but I also keep picturing what would have happened if he hadn't made it all the way. I'm simultaneously proud and terrified. He's a crazy mobile baby. I can't keep up with him some days.

I think we're getting a gate ASAP.

 

I've had a gate to keep my neighbors 3 year old out of my upstairs. This totally would have happened to me if I didn't have a pesky neighbor kid!

I am so glad he made it up okay! Little stinker!
I have to get baby gates pronto! My little guy was up on the first step the other day! It happens so fast!

No kidding! Think we'll have to wait until my DH's paycheck comes in tomorrow, but I'm totally gonna keep an eye on that crazy kid until then.
