was inspired to make lasagna for dinner....one hysterically crying daughter grasping at my legs while the other one played with plastic bags. the second year is definitely much harder than the first. i eventually gave up and fed them left over pasta while finishing up. then i noticed one of the girls putting the pasta in the plastic bags and told her not to, which completely set her off. then she got so upset she stopped eating and the dog ate their food.....argh!

    Ain't that the truth

I remember when I could put them in their jumperoos and walk out of the room and they had no idea I was gone. Now as soon as they see me even walk towards the stairs, they come rushing towards me and grab my legs. I read somewhere that seperation anxiety peaks at 18 months; well they are 20 months and it's still going strong.

Kinda makes me afriad of the 3rd year. :woah:

Be afraid, be very afraid.

I'm joking. I found the second year harder then the third. The more they start communicating and their little brains understand more the better it gets!!

I'm sorry about the rough evening.

I cook about every night. It doesn't always go smoothly but what seems to help is I act like I am giving them a cooking directions and I give them metal bowls, whisks, spatulas and wooden spoons. They act like they are stirring, etc... Most of the time it entertains them for about 15 minutes and then I turn on their favorite Baby Genius sing a long DVD. Our kitchen/living room is all open so that helps. WHen all else fails, I have dh entertain them in their bedroom or outside while I cook.

Can't wait to get them their own pots and pans and kitchen.

I'm sorry your evening didn't go well. Next time you are making lasagna I will come over and play with your babies if I get to eat a piece :) (I heart lasagna) One thing I do about once a week, I try not to do it too often, otherwise the novelty wears off, but I will put them in their high chairs while I'm finishing dinner, and give them puzzles to put together. They really enjoy this for about 10 minutes.

I really feel for you--we go through this several times a week. I get home from work and start cooking, and the girls are usually cranky and clingy...I try to distract them, but it can be hard. I do have a play kitchen for them that seems to be working at times. Hang in there--it's great you made lasagna! I stick to quick things during the week, and hope I can make something like lasagna over the weekend. Sounds yummy!

:hi: Hats off to you for cooking dinner with twin toddlers! I don't even attempt to do it alone. The other night DH came home late, so I picked up a rotisserie chicken and baked some tater tots for the boys; this was all I could handle and it was a major undertaking! The amount of whining/crying/being underfoot was INSANE! Of course they later developed fevers (they had their MMR shot earlier that day), so they were in super-crank mode. But I can't imagine trying to cook dinner by myself every day with twins running around. The only way I could do it would be to strap them in their high chairs the entire time, and I hate to leave them cooped up that long.

Kudos to you for your lasagna attempt; hope it goes better next time!!

That's why we don't cook dinner until they're in bed... I just can't deal with it, lol. Just making their own food is a nightmare at times.
