Help! For the last week or so the girls have been sleeping horribly. I stay home with them all day and they've been hardly sleeping! They're only 11 weeks old! They wake up with DH and I around 7 and have a bottle (they still eat every 3 hours at night too) and then they usually fall back asleep and then eat every 3-4 hours during the day. For the last week they've been impossible to get back to sleep. They stay awake for the most part. They are both tummy sleepers and they have gotten so good at holding their heads up that they push up with their arm and just look around with their heads (looks like they're doing push ups, but their legs are still down). If I put them on their back they just look around which also keeps them awake. Everything seems to keep them awake! Nothing I do puts them to sleep. They both have been up since 745, and have each taken a 30 minute nap. WTH! I really don't think this is normal. But, I don't know what else to do!! Any ideas, suggestions, or just hugs!!?

That is a long time to be awake! My kids would do that every once in awhile, but not everyday. :80: Have you tried napping them in a swing?

My girls were doing the exact same thing. It about drove us insane, because tehy only cat napped during the day and we were up feeding every fours. My husband bought DreamSurf, Ocean Waves for Relaxation by Reflections of Nature and now they sllep from about 11pm until 7am every night. They still cat nap during the day but sleeping at night is so much better. Hope this helps.

I remember mine went through a stage around that age. No fun at all. Maybe they're trying to learn something new. Have they rolled from tummy to back yet? All I can think to do is get on the floor and play with [entertain] them in hopes to tire them out.

    Good luck!

P.S. If if makes you feel any better my girls were finishing 4.5 oz bottles every 1.5 hrs [consistantly] until they were 4.5 months old!! Since then, they've been on a 2 hrs feeding schedule. Consider yourself lucky that yours get hungry every 3-4 hrs ^_^

I just wanted to say that is awesome that your babies are pushing up on their arms. My boys barely do that now!!

my boys are just a day younger than your girls. they went thru a short phase like that about a week or so ago. they sleep well outside, so i fed them, changed them and then packed them up for a long walk. sure enough, as soon as we walked thru the front door they woke up, but at least it was a good long nap.

just a thought, do you drink a lot of caffine? that might be it too; but i'm betting its just a phase and they'll sleep like logs in a few days.

Mine have been very awakeful all of a sudden, but they sleep on their sides/back at night so for now, I put them on their tummy during the day when they are needing a nap (and fighting it), and so far it's working.

If they are so good at turning their heads, I wonder if you swaddle them and lay them on their belly, with their head to the side of course, would that work?? I would only try it if you are right there with them though to make sure they don't turn face down but swaddling might keep them from pushing up so much.

I think it's because they are realizing there is "life" out there, my ds is sooooo nosey, he wants to see everything!!
