Ok, so the County that I live in provides this service to families who qualify called "Early Steps/Healthy Start" and since mine were 5 weeks premature they qualified (it's a free service). What they do is come out and evaluate your child's development levels and let you know how they are doing with milestones and where they are developmentally, behind/average/above/etc. They also assist you if there is a problem, like say with eating or talking. An RN that specializes in childhood development is the one that comes out to your house to evaluate and help you with your children.

Well...2 weeks ago she came out for their first evaluation. The boys were ranked "average" with their adjusted age of 2 months (they were 3 months actual). She came back today and WOO HOO the boys are now right on schedule with their actual age vs. their adjusted age.

She said that a lot of babies have the inability to self soothe and that mine obviously did not have that problem. So I told her that I did CIO at an early age and she said that it was OK, that it obviously worked and that I now have very happy babies that only cry when they need something, food, diaper, etc. She was impressed at their strength and how much they kicked and moved their arms about. She said I've got a future Michael Phelps on my hands and agreed with me that the boys will probably start crawling way ahead of schedule. She was impressed with how well they focused, held on to things, lifted their heads up, trying to crawl, rolling over to their sides, cooing and smiling. She said I was doing a great job and that I've got two very good babies. YAY! She also liked the fact that I restrain the boys while I feed them since they are so active with their arm and leg movements and that she wasn't concerned with SIDS being an issue with the boys since they move so much and won't stay in one place.

She's going to come back in 3 weeks to check up on them again but is very impressed with their progress in such a short period of time.

I just had to brag a little, this was GREAT news :D

Congrats on the good news! :D Since we only go to the pedi every couple of months now, in between pedi visits I'm always wondering if my boys are on schedule developmentally with their adjusted age. Right now they still can't really sit in a bumbo due to being a bit wobbly, and they aren't rolling over yet, etc. But I just keep telling myself they will get there and remind myself of their adjusted age. That's great that your boys are now developmentally at their actual age!
