Seriously. I strip the boys down to diapers and bibs to eat solids, and then the food gets under the bib and all over them anyway. If I'm going to scrub-a-dub their little bellies every time anyway, why bother with the bib, which I inevitably end up washing also? (and I bought the plastic bibs, the ones that you can't just chuck in the wash, the ones that say "handwash in cold water only" on them)

It seems like it's just one more mess. I'm done with bibs!!!!

Oh I forgot about the bath after every meal gig …and that was only possible because I only had one… but with two… oh geez… I think we will put off solids as long as possible…

yeah I was done with them about a month ago. My mom will sometimes walk in and say "you should put a bib on him/her" and i feel the same. what is the point!!!! I just feed them naked....and the they get a bath right after dinner anyways! and Breakfast is oatmeal that is thick so it doesn't get everywhere like carrots and sweet potatoes!

    I feel ya, chick.

we are over bibs too! all the girls do is play with them anyways, which then gets the food that was on the bib all over their face/hands.....

My aunt got me some bibs that are almost like shirts, they go all the way around the neck, you put them on over the head like a t shirt and they work really well.

I'm a bib maniac, it drives me crazy if someone feeds one of the girls without a bib. It sounds like maybe my girls aren't really messy compared to others though!

I hope you find a bib that you like!

And it's really fun when they decide to try to feed themselves...or each other... food all over their faces, hands, legs, arms... *sigh*

We started prunes last weekend, and every time Anna spit out a bite, it was down her chin into her neck all over her clothes. Good Lord is right! We need to hose them off when we are done.

When they get a bit older take a look at the Bumkins bibs. They are sold at BBRUs and online. They have ones that you have to put on with little short sleeves. They stay in place and have a nice pocket at the bottom to catch all the finger foods and you can wash them :)

Sounds like a good idea to me. Even with bibs my girls end up with it all over the place.

Yes, they seem pretty worthless. My guys eat their bibbs all through their meals, too, so whatever falls on their bibs gets smeared all over their faces... and whatever is in their mouths gets all over the front and back of the bibs. Hmmm... maybe a saran wrap swaddle would help? :p

So this is what I have to look forward to?? Great! Feeding with just a diaper on sounds like a good solution! We are only 3 days into solid food, and it has been relatively clean so far, I guess I can't expect this for too much longer as they are already grabbing at the spoon!

I used bibs for like the first week of cereal, but now, no bib. They just want to chew on it between spoons of cereal. more of a mess.

And I thought I was the only one who hated them! :p

We've done all of the above. I've thought about undressing them for each meal but that sounds like a lot of work too.
