I have a question about the number of appointments you have had. I had an OB appt at 10 wk (after transfer from fertility) and then a peri appt at 12 weeks and my next OB appt at 14 weeks. (I am 13 weeks tomorrow). The Peri has said I odn't need to see him again until 18 weeks---is this normal? I thought I would see him again at at least 16 weeks. He said as I get further along I will come much more often--he said everything looked great at the U/S. I'm also assuming my next OB appt will also be at 18 weeks---one every 4 weeks. I've heard of people having appts every 2 weeks even early on...

If your peri says he doesn't need to see you for 4 weeks I would trust him/her.

I think you will get a wide range of answers, I'm sure some people saw a peri very frequently and some people (like me) never once saw a peri.

I carried my twins to 36 weeks 5 days with only OB visits, 0 peri visits.

I think it's pretty common that unless you need to been more often. When I transferred from my fertility clinic, I saw my OB at 10wks and again at 12wks because of bleeding. The 12wk appt was the first time they noticed my cervix being short. So from then on I saw someone every 2 wks, but we alternated who it was. But if everything is checking out fine, then I think it's normal to go longer between visits.

I've seen a peri for my entire pregnancy, but that's because I saw him for my last (singleton) pregnancy due to previous m/c. When we discovered at my 7 week appointment that I was having twins I've gone in every 2 weeks. When I hit 30 weeks, I started going once a week.

I saw both my OB and Peri every 4 weeks. I got an u/s with each at every visit. The u/s at the OB was just to see the hearbeats, the peri did a growth u/s at each visit.

I started seeing an OB late into my pregnancy with the twins b/c I didnt have insurance and had to go through the process of applying for Medicaid.. Once everything was approved, I think I was somewhere around 17 weeks along when I went to my first appt and found out I was having twins. I went to a peri within 2 wks from that appt, and I think I went every 2-3 wks after that with regularly scheduled OB appts in between. I could be a little off, but I remember seeing the Peri at least 4 times between 20 and 36 wks, when I delivered.

yup. Totally normal. no need to see the doc unless there is a problem. 1X a month until about 28-30 weeks then everyother week. Then every week after about 35 weeks.

I've been to the peri 3 times so far. Once after my initial OB visit which was 9 weeks. Then again at 18 then 20 weeks because they needed to finish the measurements. And I go again next week, then once a month till I have them unless they tell me otherwise. I started my every two weeks at 16 weeks with my OB and in two weeks, I start going once a week.

Im really lucky, on Base if you have to see a High Risk Doctor they transfer you to one of the 6 peri's and that is the ONLY person you see until you deliver. At first I was going every two weeks, due to the fact they thought our girls where MOMOs. After 21 weeks, when they found they membrane I started going every 4 weeks, Until 28weeks. Now I go every 2weeks and after this week I will start going in once a week(around the 35week) then twice a week(after the 36week). I agree with PP I would trust the Peri. Not having to see him alot is a GOOD thing! ;)

This was my schedule too, with an ultrasound every 4 weeks.

Thanks ladies for all the input. Actually my next Peri appt is 6 weeks--not 4 weeks away...that was what I thought was weird. Seems most of you saw the Peri every 4 weeks. Oh well, I will at least see my OB every 4 weeks, so i know i shoudln't worry---take it as a good sign that he doesn't want to see me sooner!!

I actually had 7 weeks between my first and second peri visit. They picked up after that, but initially, there's only so much they can look at. Your OB will move up your peri appt if needed (mine was moved up a week). I agree, it's a good thing if they don't want you in there too often. It's exciting at first and makes you feel good to see them on the u/s, but trust us, that gets old after a while. :)

    Congratulations on your little bundles!

I only saw a peri, and was to see them every 3 weeks until 24 weeks, then every 2, then weekly after 32 weeks (I think). But I had an emergency cerclage at 16 weeks and was pretty much a weekly visitor from then on, and spent 4 weeks on hospital bedrest.

I'd just make sure your cervix length is being measured via T/V U/S regularly (like every 2-3 weeks).

Here is what my schedule has been like. But I was never seen by a fertility specialist. Mine are just spontaneous.

12 weeks first OB visit with ultrasound, only one baby seen
    16 weels 2nd Ob visit
17 weeks Ultrasound due to abnormal blood test and TWINS discovered BOY/GIRL
    20 weeks 3rd OB visit
21 weeks 2nd Ultrasound Full Anatomy scan and Growth
    24 weeks 4th OB Visit
25 weeks 3rd Ultrasound 2nd full Anatomy scan and Growth
28 weeks 5th OB visit (Today actually)

    Hope this helps

I only see a Peri (after transfer from RE) and my first visit with him was at 15 weeks (2 weeks after last visit with RE). Next visit was 18 week Level II ultrasound. Then after that it was every 2 weeks. As of 31 weeks we started weekly appointments.
