    How I hate thee!

At first I felt like a failure. I mean, how can I have an almost 4 year old and he still craps in his pants. But then, I remember, I have successfully potty trained 2 of my 3 kids without issue (day and night). Yet I one strong willed little boy who shall remain nameless, okay TYLER, who is 50/50 in the potty with poop. It drives me mad. He can do it. He has done it for 2 weeks at a time. Yet, on occasion he would still go in his pants. Okay, I can deal with that. And have dealt with that. I have kept him in underwear for a year even at night thinking that I would only set him back if I put him in diapers at this age.

Fast forward to our move and he wasnt making it to the potty for #2 at all. I just couldnt take it anymore and I was tired of the screaming (coming from me  ) so I did it. I went against everything I believe and I put him back in diapers. OMG. I have an almost 4 year old in diapers AGAIN. :drown:

He pees in the potty without issue. Stays dry most nights or wakes to go potty. But still poops in his pants. Sigh. I guess someday I will look back and laugh. But these days it's embarrassing.

So, for all of you out there who are PTing with late bloomers. Just know that you are not alone. :friends:

I have a feeling my DD is going to be the same way with poop. She's been in undies and peeing in the potty since Christmas! But I can count on one hand the number of times she's pooped on the potty in the last 9 months. :headbang: For a long time, we were dealing with constipation and I blamed it on that. But now, I think she is just stubborn. She poops in a pullup or diaper during naptime or bedtime 90% of the time, so at least I don't have to deal with poopy undies.

Ugh, Rachel, I am so sorry. I know it must be frustrating! Just remember that you don't see many 12 year olds still pooping in their pants, so he will eventually learn. I know it doesn't really help but this, too, shall pass.

oh ugh! my dd goes in the potty just fine... but my ds... ugh, has yet to make it to the toilet... we've caught an accident a couple of times and he's finished it. but then just continues in his pants. I can only hope he catches on soon...

so... what I was going to share, was a friend of mine had the same issue with her daughter... she actually kept her in undies and when the dd needed to go she'd bring her mom a diaper to put on her ... OH MY! talk about control. anyway, my friend finally found "her currency"... she offered that the dd could have sleepovers in the parents bedroom if she started going on the potty full time. Well that was it! she started, I can't remember if she was 4 or 5... must have been 5, b/c that was this last January and she started Kindergarten this year. Anyway, she'd tried so many things... and she finally figured it out. Hope you can figure out what your son's "currency" is... to make him WANT to go!

    good luck!!!!! and big hugs.

 Rachel. I feel that this could be my son in the future. My BF, her son was 5 years old before he was poo trained. He did great with pee, but refused to poo in the potty until she had his nighttime pull up on him and then a couple of months after he turned 5, he told her Mommy, I'm tired of this and went on the potty. She was so happy when that day happened!
