I had an appointment today, I've been having the usual BH contractions but lately I've developed like a dull cramp sensation under the belly aswell. So they did an internal and found that even though the cervix is closed, it has shortened somewhat (2 cm) and the doctor could feel the pressure on it. So now it's bedrest at home except for bathroom trips.

I'm just glad I don't have to stay int he hospital. They've warned me that if anything changes I will be admitted, but for the time being at least I get to be home.

Other than that the babies are doing fine, they measured my bump and I've grown incredibly, from 29 cm. to 38 cm. in three weeks !!!!!

Glad to hear the babies are growing!

Sorry to hear about the cervical length issue. Were you given any meds for the contractions or will resting be enough?

Do exactly as the doc suggested! I hope this allows you to maintain your length! Glad you are allowed to be home as well. While being in the hospital meant help was only a push button away looking back now and knowing I continued on bedrest for just shy of 6 weeks after being allowed to come home I just can't imagine being in the hospital the entire time with most of the staff thinking every day was going to be THE day.

I hope you have some supplies to help pass the time and of course we will keep you company as much as possible!

Although bedrest is tough, you can do it! Just think about how good it is doing your babes. I started bedrest like you at 27 weeks, and made it to 35! hang in there, and enjoy the rest now. I can't even remember what bedrest was like. [IMG]

Yea you can do it. I went on partial bedrest at 28 weeks then full bedrest at 30 weeks. I was climbing the walls, but it was okay. Plus I knew that I was doing the best thing for the babies. I had the same thing as you. My cervix was full closed, but I ended up having a contraction while they were checking it at 30 weeks and it went down to almost nothing I think it was less than 1cm. I ended up holding out until 35w5d and was only 2 cm dialated with a bulging bag.

    You'll do great!!

Welcome to the club!! Rest rest rest! [IMG]

I am ending week NINE of bed rest at home and no one ever thought we'd make it this far!! I'll be 33 weeks on Sunday!! [IMG][IMG]

My cervical length dropped to the mid-2's and has been fluctuating the entire time each week from 3 to 4 to 3 to high 2's to 5 --- so I know the resting CAN help you!

    HUGS!

I am jealous that you got to go home to rest [IMG].
My cervix was closed but had shortened to 1.3 so they stuck me in the hospital.
Make sure you get lots of rest at home so you don't end up in the hospital. How often will your doctor check you?

Glad you're at home, and take care of those babies. Make sure you have people who can help with meals etc. Bed rest is magical, just take care of yourself and hang in there!

I am glad to hear that the babies are doing well. Bedrest is difficult, but the reward is well worth it! Hopefully you have lots of support around you, to help you get through this!!!

Thanks for all your messages !!!! In a strange way it's comforting to know I'm not alone and hearing your success stories is excellent. I don't know if you guys felt the same, but now I'm even more concious of every little ache and pain I feel, mostly because I'm so scared I'll miss something or ignore something important !! [IMG]

I wish someone would write the "how to identify different types of contraction handbook for expectant twin mothers." [IMG]

But I guess I'll just have to rely on my instinct. They put in my notes anyway that if I call the hospital I'm to be brought in straight away. The policy here you see is to give you the third degree when you ring and half the time you're told to take a painkiller, lie down and see if whatever is wrong with you goes away.
So in a way it's a relief to know I won't have to go through that *L*

Anywhoo, my next appointment is in two weeks time.
