Nutramigen and pooping

Hi...

I read in the baby book I was given at my shower that formula fed babies usually poop every few days. I had never thought to read that section before, but now that I did, it surprised me. I breastfed my girls until about two months ago and then weaned them to Nutramigen formula. They poop two or three times a day now that they're on formula, usually large wet poops.

For those of you who use Nutramigen for your twins, is this what you experience? My girls seem completely healthy and happy, so I'm not worried... just wondering if hypoallergenic formulas make babies react differently than do regular milk formulas.

I had one on Alimentum (the Similac version of Nutram) and he did about the same. His were always more potent than his brothers who was on plain ol' formula. I wouldnt say they were larger, just softer.

 

The Nutramigen/Alimentum is more easily digested, so it does tend to make their poops softer and more frequent!

 

Mine have been on Nutramigen for about 4 or 5 days now and they have the same - large wet poops and a couple a day. Every other formula I tried before this (there are too many to list) made them constipated and they usually only pooped every couple of days even when I was giving them prune juice between feedings.

Since mine are both healthy and happy with Nutramigen, I'm definitely sticking to it.

Mine were 3- 4 times a day on Nutramigen and now that they are on table food continue with that pattern. I think they are just good poopers!

 

My son was on Nutramigen for 8 months and his poops were looser and stinkier than his sister who is on Enfamil!
