I am asking this for a friend. She had IVF twins about 19 months ago and then at 4 months along, discovered she was pregnant with a boy. She just gave birth on the 2nd of January. She is looking for a sling to nurse in. She was successful at nursing her twins and looks forward to breastfeeding this one, but with one, she wants a sling to use, but is looking for one that is breastfeeding friendly. Do you have any suggestions for her? Thanks!

I used to have this one

I never actually did get to nurse in it (by the time I got it, my boys were a little to big for either of us to be comfortable), but I think it would work for a little baby. I wish I had gotten mine sooner.

i love my maya wrap. great for nursing! she/you can also check out thebabywearer for a wealth of information on slings, wraps, pouches, asian baby carriers, etc. there are a ton of soft baby carriers out there. also, i can put you in contact with NINO leader. NINO is a national organization dedicated to teaching babywearing. their site is nineinnineout.org . hth! let me know if you want me to put you in contact with the leader or have any specific questions i can ask for you. I LOVE my Ellaroo sling for bf. It's lightly padded on the shoulder area, which is really comfortable, but not padded other places, so the baby doesn't overheat.
There are many nights when Ronan refuses to nurse anywhere EXCEPT in the sling. He likes it because I can nurse him upright which minimizes reflux. It's also good for nursing in public--you can put the tail end over the baby's head for privacy. I transported and nursed Ro during a several hour plane flight in the thing and it worked perfectly.

I also liked the maya wrap and when they were very little would often nurse Tal in there (Maia didn't like it ironically). I even managed to walk down the street nursing her whilst pushing her sister in the buggy. It was that discreet.

Between 1 and 6 months, the one I found easiest to nurse them in was a pouch I made myself from jan andrea's wonderful site. I used double thickness t-shirt material but would have preferred fleece (just couldn't find it here). It was very easy, very cheap and very comfortable - I just wouldn't carry them long distances in it.

My SIL had given me an Over The Shoulder Baby Holder when I had Noah and I used it all the time. It's a ring sling with some padding on the shoulder and I found it really comfortable. I also used it with the babies. My friend was sooooo impressed when I was visiting at her house nursing Josh in the sling and changing Ethan's diaper at her changing table at the same time!!

Could you provide us the website. I would be really interested in it. Our dd loves to nurse but doesn't like being worn in the sling. I've tried many times. I wonder if she would tolerate the sling better if I could nurse her in it. THANKS!

Sure! Lots of different places sell them, but I got mine at this site, but you could also search for "Ellaroo lightly padded sling" or something if you wanted other options. They have several different patterns (I have a plain black one--blends into my clothes, people can't tell I've got a baby in there unless they're paying attention), and release different patterns on a regular basis. They're kind of pricy (ok, very pricy, IMO), but for me it's been worth it--it's the only thing that I was able to use to overcome Ronan's nursing strikes last month. Hope this (or another one) works for you!

    Rockin Baby Pouch
THis is the pouch that I use for my new little one. I have only nursed her in it a couple of times when we have been out and about. I do like this pouch better than some other pouch/slings that I have tried. It is great and Chloe likes to just hang out in the pouch.

This side has a brilliant instruction to nurse in a sling, the sling itsself is slightly elastic, so you can use it for very small children, too.
    moby wrap

    And I love their designs!

It doesn't mention anything about being able to nurse in this sling. I just want to make sure I can easily nurse while wearing our dd because she doesn't like the sling we have and I cannot nurse comfortably in it. If I could nurse in the sling, I'm hoping she'll adjust to being in it.

HOTSLINGS!! are the best. I love the patterns and they are well made. There are a ton of slings, wraps and pouches out there, but this is my favorite. I don't have experience nursing with it. My breasts are too big to manage this. LOL.
